In this blog post, we’ll introduce our new auction feature, and show you how to start bidding on rare rums right now. Let’s dive in!

Why We Built This Feature

At RumX, our goal is to make it effortless for you to explore, discover, and buy the rums you love. After receiving lots of feedback in our big 2024 RumX survey, we learned two key things:

  1. Our marketplace already has a great selection of standard rums and some interesting rarities.
  2. However, the range is still too limited for serious collectors - online shops simply can’t match the variety of a full auction catalog.

So, we decided to expand our shop partners and integrate leading auction houses directly into RumX. This combines the best of both worlds: easy day-to-day purchases and secure auction access to cover the entire range of market offerings. Auction houses verify incoming bottles, offering an extra layer of security compared to buying from anonymous private sellers.

We’re thrilled to introduce RhumAuction.com, part of the WhiskyAuction.com Group. They’ve been pioneers in whisky auctions since 1997 and now bring that expertise to rum. Their current January auction, live until February 12, 2025, features more than 250 top-rated rums.

  1. Open the RumX App. Make sure you have the latest version.
  2. Tap on “Live Auctions”. You’ll find this on the start page.
  3. Browse the Current Auction Lots:
  4. Add Rums to Your Wishlist: Found something interesting? Tap on our wishlist icon so you can keep track of it.
  5. Jump to the lot and bid on it
