Top review from Jakob:
"Excellent, classic old Demerara profile with excellent integrated alcohol - the 70% brings complexity but is nowhere near this level perceptible and consequently does not overpower. Lots of heavy sweetness and spice, age is apparent and bitterness is present without being too dominant. It is bottlings like this that are simply lacking today, despite or possibly because of the much higher release frequency. Outstanding!"

Top review from Robert Bauer:
"Nose If Diamond 1988 was Mozarts Requiem, this fellow is Bachs Mass in B-Minor! Hence deeper, more transcendental and complex. The driest plums from Bavaria. Raisins from Turkey. The finest tobacco from Vuelta Abajo. The sweetest Medjoul dates from Jordan. Burned insense straight from the Vatican. New Santoni leather boots. Damp earth in a jungle. Molasses and Art Deco furniture. But also mouthwatering scents of grilled lamb with mint in a morocan restaurant. Beneath all this wild stew, a subtle hint of lavender and Ylang-Ylang wafts through, lending elegance and finesse to the very oily and heavy notes. The Olympus of a bouquet. Palate Rome is burning ladies and gents! It's a juggernaut that crushes everything that came before it. By that we don't mean the incredibly well-integrated 72.1%, but the sheer force of flavours sizzling on the tongue. Big time molasses sweetness up front, carried by a fine cocoa bitterness of Bajan chocolate. Tonka beans creme, fleshy notes, morocan mint, cuban tobacco, intense Manuka Honey notes and Umami all over the place. The earthy, manioc root-y and leathery finish resembles the length of the Great Wall of China. Rating Can a rum get any better? The bouquet alone is so brillant and complex that you could easily sit down with a glass and a Charles Dickens book for days, just to smell and be satisfied. Palate-wise, it is comparable to the excellent 1975 Cadenhead's, only with slightly deeper and darker nuances. Anyone who wants a taste of spirits heaven should at least get a sample. La messa è finita. 96/100 Points"

"This is also an older tasting and at the release the price was very good compared to what you got. This rum is heavy, really heavy and it hits you as soon as you open the bottle. I'm not a certain but I made a note that I thought there was a hint of raisin in there. The nose is heavy on roasted wood with tar, molasses and some nuts. The palate is heavy, very complex and extremely well balanced with lots of roasted, even burnt wood actually, tar, molasses and a hint of mint. The finish goes on forever and has lots of roasted/burnt wood and tar. The note I have is that the colour was beautifully dark, bomb of a nose and heavy curtains in the glass."

"This is a tasting from 10.05.2019 where I went out with a few colleagues for a nice tasting. I have the following notes. Very nice colour with a fresh balanced nose once rested. With a bit of water it opens up a bit more without changing the overall profile."

"First time I had a chance to try one of the young 91 KFMs. I‘m a bit shocked. Despite its young age this is very good and pure KFM essence of the vintage. While I expected this to be much lighter than its 30y+ brothers, all of the woodiness, bitterness and tannins are there. Yet a bit less extrem and with a bit more liveliness (dried fruits are great in this) making this an excellent age to be bottled. Very nice."

Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"In the vein of the 1998 Caroni, Cadenhead's presents a lovely vintage with no real false notes. The nose opens with exotic pineapple fruit, then diverges with rounder cookie dough notes before falling back on a more classic profile: machine shop, smoky wood and warm spices are there to awaken the senses. The attack on the palate is lively, heavy and intense, but also oily and round. Rubber and tar are still warm, followed by tropical fruit, spices (vanilla, chili), oak, leather and hot caramel, which adds a touch of sweetness. Although the profile is well mastered, it lacks that little touch of madness that would set it apart from other Caronis of this fairly widespread vintage. The same applies to the finish. It's long, warm, petroliferous, smoky, with fruity touches and almost burnt caramel. Smoky oak, warm spices and leather are also present. This is a fine Caroni, but one that struggles to break away from the archetypal genre (or perhaps my palate is becoming demanding)."

Top review from Dr.Django:

"14.12.2023 Retasting this rum and I still love it. The Caroni notes are more subtle but the overall balance is nice. --------------- Once this rum is rested the Caroni notes just come crawling across the table. I rested it for 15+ minutes before giving it a go. The nose has smoky wood, tar and rubber trailed by caramel, orange and a light earthy note. The palate is kind of in your face with roasted/smoky wood, tar, rubber, mango, caramel and light tobacco and iodine. What I like is the warm pepperyness on the palate. The finish is long and warm with wood and some earthy notes."

"Pre-tasting to bridge the time until the sample from the new Nobilis TDL (RX16047) is with me and I can compare the two (despite the different vintages). This one is more of a tart TDL representative. More spicy-bitter than fruity. Also with dirty accents - maybe Caroni hints? The delicious mint comes only at the very end."

"Despite the age this rum has very little wood to it, not a bad thing perse because all the dirty Caroni notes are there. The nose is fruity with spices and all the lovely Caroni flavours; rubber and tar. In the back i also get medicinal notes and caramel. The palate takes off where the nose left off. Spicy with fruit, spices and then rubber and tar. After resting there is even more flavours, chocolate, light earthy and medicinal notes. The finish is long with tropical fruits, spices, tobacco and light menthol notes. A lovely Caroni with a twist."

"Very fruity on the nose dominating the classic 2000s TDL profile. Also very nice on the plate with a nice range of tropic fruits and sweetness. The low(er) ABV in this bottling is noticeable, but is at a good spot as it is - on the palate as well as on the nose."

"This is a lovely bottle and I'd like to have on or two of them on my shelves, but unfortunately that's not an option. Very fruity with smoky wood and vanilla. The palate is sweet and lightly bitter, yum, I love it. "

"#4551 15.01.2024 Sitting at home relaxing enjoying that my last visits to the hospital for scans etc. came back without any comments so thus far very positive. When this bottle was released the price tag was extremely good compared to what you get. Medium fruity with light roasted wood notes and esters. There is a medicinal touch to the profile but in a good way. The palate is well rounded and oily with some anise in the back. The finish is long with a herbal touch. The empty glass has some licorice, caramel and faint strawberry."

"#4769 09.07.2024 Relaxing with a few samples at home. Nose Light, fruity, faint mint, faint caramel, light sugarcane, light leather, light vegetal. Palate Oily, light wood, light grass, citrus, light leather, light mint, faint medicinal. Finish Short to medium, light, fruits, light citrus, light mint, faint leather, light wood. The empty glass has stronger caramel, menthol and dried fruit."

Top review from Tschusikowsky:
"Has something of a Hampden/Fiji09 symbiosis. The bottle has now been open for a few months, which has done it a lot of good in my opinion. More fruit components come to the fore. Beautiful bottling with a super drinking strength."

"Spannendes Fiji-Profil mit breitem aromatischem Spektrum - der Alkohol ist nicht ganz perfekt integriert, aber die geschmackliche Vielfalt wiegt hier vieles auf. Für Liebhaber des Fiji-Profils durchaus eine Alternative zum 2001er Jahrgang, auch wenn hier durchaus wneiger Ecken und Kanten im Spiel sind."

Palate Fresh, wood, light roasted, pineapple, caramel, faint floral, light chocolate, light ester. Finish Medium to long, wood, fruits, light caramel."

Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"As expected, it cannot keep up with the HV EMB 2010 (RX227) tasted at the same time and certainly not with the Clarendons of 1995 and 1997, which won awards almost across the board; nevertheless, it is a solid rum, which is pleasing not least because of its light peach notes."

"Vielen Johannes für diese Blind Tasting. #No.3 Schön Fruchtig mit etwas Süße und leicht Floral Blumig ordentlich Holz aber nicht störend etwas Nelke schöne Würze. Der Alkohol ist in der Nase wie am Gaumen sehr präsent und nicht wirklich gut eingebunden."
