"Intense spectrum of predominantly cocoa, oak, caramel, tobacco and spices. This is accompanied by subtle mineral notes, hints of dried and yellow fruit and roasted nuts. The aroma spectrum of the heavy sweetness is almost perfectly pronounced, especially on the nose, from caramel to vanilla and fully ripe mango. In the mouth, the high alcohol content is unfortunately a little too noticeable and somewhat overshadows the overall profile. In the end, I feel there is a slight lack of contrast to this heavy sweetness, such as dark fruits or more nuanced spices. Nevertheless, this is still a great distillate."

"This rum is a top notch when it comes to flavours as well as complexity and balance. Perfect ABV integration and lightly dry with nice fruits and roasted wood. The spices only enhances the overall profile. I really like the coffee on the finish and the empty glass is wonderful even after several hours."

"Un rhum très fonçé d’aspect. Un nez avec un alcool très bien intégré, avec du boisé et du fumé, du Porto, des agrumes. Un nez à la fois monolithique et complexe. Une bouche avec des tannins, très boisée, fumée, amère avec du végétal qui amène de la fraîcheur. Un net goût de réglisse (bois doux). En finale toujours des agrumes, de la fumée et de la réglisse. Cette amertume et ce boisé me font penser au Caroni Velier 1994 Guyana Stock. Le verre vide est magnifique avec des parfums de vieille maison en bois patinée et encaustiquée. Merci Dr Django pour le sample."

"Super complex! Great Versailles with a deep, woody, slightly bitter, spicy Black Tot note! Tasting on 13.10.23: unfortunately there is virtually no other 86 Enmore for comparison. Charles has solved the mystery behind the rum. In terms of taste, this must be a KFM! It's quite similar to the Flensburg 91, but much fruitier due to the shorter ageing period. An excellent rum that is second to none!"

I have the Karaya in my glass at the same time - the similarities are amazing. Despite the difference in age, Silver Seal is much more intense, while the differences in the profile are mainly characterized by the caramel."

"This is yet another wonderful rum from the wildlife collection. The nose can be picked up from quite some distance away. A heavy and wonderful nose that sets off fruity mixed with some polish followed with nice spices and a woody touch. The palate is complex yet well balanced with fruits and spices. In the back i get wonderful licorice and toffee. The finish is long with coffee, spices and fruits. I get some nougat in there as well. "

"Un rhum dégusté au Whisky Live à Paris en 2024. Un parfait équilibre entre les notes d’atelier mécanique et les fruits. Un nez large et profond. Les fruits dominent en bouche, mais le goudron et le caoutchouc sont là pour donner de la profondeur. La finale est très longue et laisse un goût délicieux à mesure que les fruits disparaissent et que les notes d’atelier mécanique se fassent plus lourdes. Un très beau Caroni, le prix excessif m’a découragé d’en acheter une bouteille."

"Once rested this becomes a pretty good release. Fruity and nutty with wood and very light roasted notes. I like the caramel in the profile because it's subtle but adds something to the profile. Balanced and oily on the palate and very nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass was amazing after an hour or so."

"A rum tasted at the WLP. A splendid nose of prune, wood and light leather. The palate is rather (too) tight and tannic, but with lovely stewed fruit. A fine finish, a little too woody. A rum that's a little thin and tight in the mouth. I expected much better."

"#4931 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Balanced, wood, light roasted, faint anise, dried fruit, faint citrus, faint caramel, light earthy. Palate Oily, fresh, balanced, wood, light roasted, medium dry, spice, light citrus, light tobacco, light plum. "What is an evening without a Silver Seal Navy rum? Exactly, not a real Silver Seal evening. This is year another pretty good Navy blend. Well balanced and a nice and warm touch to the palate. The vanilla and citrus notes are very faint but there. Price to quality is pretty good in my mind."

"Un rhum dégusté au WLP en 2023 et 2024. Un très beau nez typique de Demerara avec des fruits secs, des pruneaux et du boisé assez lourd. Une bouche avec trop d’amertume, dûe sans doute au (trop) long vieillissement en fûts. Une belle finale, mais trop amère aussi. Pas de fraîcheur ici, hélas. Un rhum très déçevant par rapport aux attentes, mais que j’ai trouvé un peu meilleur en 2024."

"Another really nice release. Once rested the nose is fresh and well rounded with fruit. I like the light floral note. The palate is dry and well balanced and takes off where the nose ends and the finish is really nice and dry. The empty glass is really nice after a few hours."

"Overall prevalence of vanilla with hints of tobacco/barrel with a medium-long finish initially of vanilla then giving way to light tobacco/barrel notes.Decent rum, but I would never buy it again except at bargain prices. The bottle aesthetically is very nice."
