The Spirit of Art REV
Top review from Jakob:
"According to the current state of my personal REV king. Pronounced plum notes and subtle tobacco accompanied by noble dark notes of leather, licorice and wood. The comparison of the 1994 REVs is the rum version of the clash of the titans - who has something for the heavy sweetness, the trenchant plum notes and the tart barrel influences that make up this Marque, has certainly great joy in the cross-comparison as I do. And depending on individual taste, other frontrunners are definitely possible here - in the overall package, I see the V"

"Extreme good delicious rum! In the nose it‘s like a rum from Barbados/Foursquare. Alcohol is integrated very well. Update: One of the NW 1994 I’ve tasted. It needs at least of 30 min to fully open up and a few drops of water helps too."

Chapeau!"

Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"This Caroni is right up my street. Wonderfully balanced, fruit and dirt in equal measure. Probably the best '97 continental-matured Caroni I've had in a glass. Now, if it were a little deeper, more powerful on the dark side of power, it would be phenomenal. As it is, it's "just" great. Nevertheless, I "need" a whole bottle of it. Because I don't think a better continental 97 will be bottled again. Many thanks, DrDjango, for the fine sample!"

"2023 and I still love it though at the last bottle 😊 Another wonderful bottling from Valinch & Mallet. Happy that I got my hands on 2 bottles. Remember to rest for 15-20 minutes to release all those wonderful flavours. 2021.12.10 Sitting in my recliner right now enjoying this wonderful rum. No wonder people like it, real funk and fruits from Jamaica. I have the entire series and the general quality level is very high."

Top review from Vincent D:
"My first Caroni. It's woody, fruity and sweet. It's hard to believe it's over 62°. The profile changes completely on tasting. Now I understand what makes these rums so special. It's woody and heavy. On retro-olfaction, there are hints of tar in the mouth and the whole thing ends in a strange bitterness. It's disconcerting.2nd tasting, it's even richer. It seems sweeter. I can't find the 62° at all, it just slips away. I finish on an almost salty, metallic note. I kind of understand the interest in Caronis. It makes you want to go for even more typical bottles.Edit: 👍Edit2: oxidation has taken its toll on the power of this sample, but it's still very pleasant and typical of what I now know of Caroni. Very good."
The Spirit of Art Jamaica Blend «Esters' Delight»
Top review from Tschusikowsky:
"Very solid blend. Even though I only really like Hampden. But what can you complain about 🤤 The overripeness is very well integrated in terms of taste. Top balance, great Jamaican that is dangerously drinkable."

"My first PM or rather my first rum from Guyana. The nose is very unusual. The first impression is like smelling a freshly sulphurized wine barrel. I can't really pinpoint the smell. I'm not sure about the taste either, I know I know it, but I can't put my finger on it. Do I imagine that it reminds me of an Asian sauce or was it those cough drops that I once had to take? In any case, a very good rum that needs to be analyzed again. Edit: somehow I associate this rum with these Buscupan drops."

Top review from cigares :

"Got this one today and I can only recommend it. A rare bottle though. Besides making a great rum the bottle itself is a piece of art. The back of the bottle has a beautiful unique piece of art. "

"#4750 22.06.2024 Nice tasting afternoon and evening with Hannes at the shop in Odense. Nose Fresh, light wood, coconut, spice, light caramel, raisin, faint leather. Palate Oily, fresh, light wood, fruity, dried fruit, spice, light caramel, light chocolate, light spicy. Finish Medium long, light wood, medium spicy, coconut, faint roasted, raisin."

"Unfortunately I don't know the predecessor to make a comparison. All in all, a nice blend. But unfortunately nothing extraordinary that knocks me off my feet. In my opinion, it fits into the easy sipper category."

"#4121 First off, price to quality is pretty good in my mind. Intense and fruity with a well balanced ABV. Despite the age the wood isn't dominant but rather well balanced with the other flavours. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass is very nice and I can pick up some chocolate and pineapple."
Skeldon (Bourbon Cask) SWR
Top review from lukasdrinkinghabits:
"Again in the glass. Along with the SVL. it is a SWR, but a weirdo.Tasted along with the two SBS SWRs. Would never have mistaken this blind for an SWR. The signature nose with cappuccino and caramel is hard to find, above that is an artificial fruity ester layer reminiscent of the SBS SVL 2003 or maybe a low ester Jamaican with a cognac finish. This fat layer covers up a lot and leaves little air for other nuances. In the mouth, the sour esters continue. The alcohol integration is also quite different, probably because of the acidity. I'm really not sure this is an SWR and not more of an SV(L). Will have to taste this again against SVL. I'm confused. The rating is with a strong caveat. Need to taste this one a few more times."

"Nice and fruity nose with rubber and varnish with a touch of wood. The palate matches pretty well with the nose. Slightly more wood and a light touch of chocolate and caramel. The finish is long and woody with chocolate and raisins. "

"very tasty full proof Australia!👌🏽 blind I would never ever have come here on Australia, rather Trinidad or so.on the nose blackberry, tobacco, dark chocolate, raisin, some cassis with mint. taste then thick mocha, with mint, cocoa, grapefruit peel as well as tobacco. somewhere comes a slight association with grappa. in the finish then thick and smooth like maple syrup with coffee and dark chocolate, some mint and raisin, as well as vanilla and grape to it. very tasty!"

Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"Ach Mönsch ... Soo verlockend an der Nase! Irgendwie speziell, irgendwie bekannt.

Top review from Jakob:
"Classic Belize: Pronounced pleasing and quaffable, but the rum is somewhat lacking in aromatic complexity. In addition to the sweetness of vanilla, toffee, chocolate still get a few hints of cappuccino and peanuts and leicjte spiciness in the taste spectrum. Very good alcohol integration."

"This is a tasting set from 2022 where we had a lot of fun around the table. Another really nice release from Valinch & Mallet and the price tag matches what you get. Fruity with a nice smoky note in the profile with good ABV integration. There is a light nutty note on the profile. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass is really nice with some added chocolate and light coffee."

"A very nice ten cane, better than the one from CDI I'd say. Fruity from nose to finish with spices and a delfining roasted barrel without it being too much. A touch of rubber and solvents are also there. "
Single Cask SPD
Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"A relatively sweet Fijian rum. The nose evokes a few medicinal flavors that are far from dominant. Apart from a perceptible alcoholic touch, exotic fruits, wood, chocolate, spices and sweet notes (caramel, sugar) form a fairly classic olfactory profile. The attack on the palate is more incisive. There's a certain heaviness on the palate and a syrupy texture. The profile remains dominated by woody flavors, chocolate, exotic fruits, spices, nuts and caramel. The alcohol is well integrated, though not completely unnoticed. The length on the palate is correct. The calm of the nose is restored, with similar flavors. Warmth and toastiness on the finish are not unpleasant. All in all, a very respectable Single Cask, but one that lacks the expression and depth to be at the top of its class, both for its terroir and for its bottler."

"I have had a short break from tasting because I felt like 2-3 days a week with tasting was a bit over the top. Back in shape again and we had a wonderful evening yesterday. This one was a very nice surprise and one I'd recommend to sip if you get the chance. A nice and fruity profile from nose to finish. "

"#4117 I'd say this one is a bit disappointing because the other releases were pretty good on average. Naturally sweet with fruit and light roasted wood and lightly dry on the palate. Draws nice curtains and the empty glass is nice with stronger chocolate and a very light smoky note."

"#4120 I was looking forward to this old rum but it was rather disappointing. Even after a very long rest the ABV was still kind of dominant masquerading the other flavours. Roasted wood comes in second followed by sule fruit, spices and caramel. Draws nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass has some tobacco and leather notes."

"#4123 This one was also a bit disappointing. Lightly fruity with a floral touch and some berries. The palate is oily and it draws really nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some caramel, leather and a hint of chocolate. I'd say that this set has failed and it's probably the last one I'm buying 🤔"
