"Tag 9 im RumX-Ester-Kalender, blind. Dass hier trotz Ester kein Jamaika im Glas ist, war wohl schnell klar. Relativ schnell ging mein Tipp dann auch nach Réunion zu Savanna, da sich vor allem im Abgang das typische Profil der Destille zeigt. Unglaublich komplexe Nase, die aus dem Glas schon entgegenströmt und nahezu alles bietet: Frucht, schokoladige Noten, pflanzliches, Menthol, das macht Spaß! Am Gaumen dann schließlich etwas dunkler, rostiger, ja sogar bitterer, aber in einem angenehmen Maß. Dazu weiterhin eine bunte Ladung Ester, sodass keine Daseinsberechtigungen für den Kalender fehlen. Tolle Abfüllung und perfekt für diese Aktion!"

"It is clear from the first whiff: we are dealing with a HERR. Wild, overripe pineapple and mango, strawberries and olives. Wow! On the palate, there's a pleasant crispness. Overripe strawberries, apricots and mangoes again. The tropical 8 years in a cognac barrel round it off successfully. Outstanding release!"

"This was my favourite Savanna and rum of the tasting. Nice complexity and lovely balance between the fruit, caramel and spices and you could also get some molasses. I really liked the light smoky feel and wood in this release. Chocolate comes at the end of the palate. Yummy 😊"

"Ohh this is exactly my thing. Wonderfully fruity... Strawberries, papaya, pineapple, banana and a good load of esters ... Risk of confusion with high ester Jamaicaner quite possible 😅😅.... It almost explodes on the palate ... first oily warm and a little sweet...then it fills the mouth with tropical fruits and esters, here also a little floral (which is hardly present in the nose).... minimal wood and bitter in the finish. Strong performance 👍🏻"

"what a grenade!!🤤⚡💥🤯🇷🇪 incredibly complex. After 1H of breathing, cinnamon pastry, apple pockets and honey banana on the nose. Plus Incredibly mild for 65%, horny sour cherry, pineapple, strawberry and mint, chamomile olive notes and very complex and dangerously drinkable. Musty, fermented and glue-heavy to no end. This thing is definitely the full broadside of Savanna Grande arome as it gets! The lava and Madras are here but I find even a good track geiler!"

"Among my favorites!An intense and balanced rum with the alcohol beautifully integrated. Finally an affordable rum with phenomenal quality.On the nose and palate well marked aromas of barrel, olive, cherry/plum and roast.Currently the best rum I have tasted. Although Carones have that inimitable tar scent that I love, this one has an incredible and complex aromatic bouquet that makes for a very long tasting experience. Endless persistence. Magical!"

"14.05.2022 Had a nice meet up with some nice rums, good friends and also new rum enthusiasts. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Intense, fresh, faint wood, faint smoke, fruity, berries, light pineapple, faint chocolate. Palate Oily, intense, medium spicy, light chocolate, berries, light pineapple, spices, light olive. Finish Long and warm, light olive, light roasted wood, faint salty, light pineapple. Extra note. Needs to rest for a good while or the ABV will overshadow all the nice flavours."

"Great Agricole! Nice spice, lots of wood influence and nice peach black tea and dark cocoa and burnt hay, as well as pear notes. Alcohol is a bit too present overall and could be better integrated after 15y, yet this is a very exciting & complex drop and extremely fun!"

"I love the tropical maturation! You can taste the ageing in this rum, it goes in the direction of the Velier Demerara. Amazing! Compared to the 2006 molasses RX16224, this one is almost worlds better, much more complexity."

"Great rum, but a bit below the 2006 Savanna Grand Arome because in my opinion it is less intense. Compared to the 2006, the olive scent is less pronounced and the nose is less complex with more ester/solvent presence. The palate is very balanced and the high alcohol content is well integrated. Very long finish that after several minutes releases olive and lychee/grape aromas. Excellent value for money."

"A super baroque and expressive nose with apple alcohol, overripe pineapple, a kind of bubble gum, sweet herbs, menthol and like a smell of fresh cheese. The entry is very nice, on pineapple but with an earthy side and a taste of veined cheese (Stilton). The finish is moderately long, with all the aromas slowly diminishing. A long-lasting scent of herbs and tropical fruit remains. A very lively rum and, as usual with Savanna, special aromas."

"Really cool how much Savanna & Armagnac harmonize. Lots of wood, lots of spice, some glue, red chili flakes with dark chocolate raisin, red grape and baked banana, and dark chocolate cookies. Then also a bit bitter on the finish, astringent and with lots of tannins and glue, menthol and overripe banana and strong mocha, and Really Dark Dark Chocolate. Alcohol is very well integrated and really fun to drink. Very drinkable for a Savanna! For me in terms of Savanna in the Armagnac barrel definitely the benchmark currently."

"This is a very balanced and pleasant savanna. Delicate fruit aromas on the nose, pronounced caramel, vanilla, barrel and spice aromas on the palate. Red fruits are also subtly recognizable. Medium length with red dried fruits in combination with cask and coffee. I quite like it...something for the evening."

"Crosstasting 14.05.2023: RX9388: 75/100 RX300: 76/100 RX14156: 87/100 RX7316: 89/100 RX308: 90/100 RX219: 92/100 RumX-Adventskalender 15.12.2023 What is striking about this rum is that you really don't feel any alcohol at all on the nose, but it really packs a punch in the mouth. This rum really has two very, very different sides."
