A rum tasted in direct comparison with RX12713 and it's surprisingly different. Quite a dry, bitter nose of dried fruit and grapes, and like a mutated spirit (Pedro Ximenes or white port). On the palate, there's a lot of bitterness, herbaceousness and spiciness, and lots of young wood. The finish is long on spice, wood and bitterness. In the empty glass, this rum becomes much more elegant and the flavors become more balanced. For me, not as good as its 2006 brother.

Et bien voila de nouveau une belle bouteille de chez Le Gus't qui est un super rapport prix/plaisir. Un Agricole bien marqué par un fût de Madère avec un coté vineux liquoreux mais très bien dosé et qui n'écoeure absolument pas. Le nez est particulièrement agréable d'ailleurs. Belle découverte.

Overall a very tasty unaged Agricole that’s remarkable smooth for an ABV at 60%. Branca is one of many brands produced by Engenhos Do Norte in Madeira. Madeira is btw the only place outside the French Oversees Departments that’s widely recognized as a producer of Agricole.

Super gimmicky nose that reminds me of fresh sweet popcorn. But with a lot of anis and then generic herbs in the end looses me too much. The dissonance of nose and palate is where this fails for me in the end.

So, let's go to Madeira. The rum is very well balanced and good to drink. Great notes of baked apple, raisins, grapes and prunes. The alcohol is well integrated. Unfortunately, the rum could not convince me (btw. Madeira is not among my favorites)

Funnily enough I don't get any of the Madeira cask in this. This is I think what a good standard entry of engenhos do norte should be like god mixture of cask aging and good alcohol integration. I like it!

I received this rum free of charge with an order. It appears very fruity on the nose, but unfortunately it is not so fruity on the palate and the alcohol is not so well integrated. It is certainly ok for mixing.
