Won a sample set of the 4 new Sea Shepherd from Kirsch. THANK YOU 🙏. Here is the tropically matured molasses sugar cane juice rum from Brazil, with a finish in an Amburana wood barrel... Nose: caramel-fruity with a spicy note of pipe tobacco. Dried apricot and fig, plus banana and papaya. Scented wood with vanilla. Full-bodied and very pleasant. 8.2 Palate: Herbal and spicy with a fruity, woody sweetness. Cardamom with nutmeg and coriander and a light note of sour cherry and raspberry as well as chamomile, hay and sesame. The pipe tobacco comes through subtly at the back. A little too much cardamom, otherwise interesting. 7,6 Unusual but good blend of molasses and sugar cane juice and then Amburana wood.

Un rhum brésilien très intéressant. Le nez est extrêmement parfumé, tourné sur la nature et ses herbes aromatiques, son eucalyptus et sa camomille. Pêches et abricots s’accompagnent d’une touche boisée, épicée et des noix. Un nez qui change de l’ordinaire, très frais et gourmand. En bouche, le profil est complètement nouveau. Les notes florales du nez ont disparu pour laisser place aux agrumes et aux fruits secs. On discerne la gourmandise à travers le caramel beurré, le chocolat, la vanille, le sucre brun et quelques notes de mélasse. Une légère amertume se fait ressentir en fin de bouche. L’alcool est bien intégré. La finale, de longueur correcte, est plus sombre, axée sur le cacao et le chocolat noir, les tanins du bois, le cuir, les notes torréfiées de café et de noix et les fruits secs. Un profil un peu plus sec et concentré en fin de bouche. Une belle surprise avec un beau potentiel, mais il aurait été encore meilleur si les notes florales et parfumées étaient revenus au palais.

Wie viele moderne Epris, am Anfang ziemlich „parfümiert“, gerade bei frisch geöffneter Bottle. Nach ein paar Tagen „Oxidation“ auch hier das gleiche Spiel wie schon beim diesjährigen V&M Epris…Fruchtgummi statt floral/parfüm. Definitiv ein Rum, der in geöffneter Flasche mit der Zeit deutlich aufgeht und besser wird. Von daher sind die auf Messe, Tasting usw. schwer zu bewerten, da er nicht die Zeit bekommt, die er braucht. Hab inzwischen 3 Epris offen und alle gehen exact in die selbe Richtung. Anfangs „naja“, nach ein paar Tagen/Wochen…“cool“.
