"This Clairin from Velier is incredibly strong with strong peat/smoke and solvent aromas. Slight presence of olives.Compared to the Sajous it lacks more fruity notes.Great rum!Clairin Rums are true rums that have not altered over time and retain those fermentation and distillation processes of yesteryear. They are among the few rums left to give us a historical memory of what this great distillate was like. They are our past and at the same time our future!"

"Forgive me, but blindfolded I would have sworn by the smell that it was a Jamaican, ester alert! On the palate, however, things clear up very quickly: no ester, but a distinctive smoky note. I still like it. Finish a little too short. Update 2022-11-30: Today an attractive balance of sweetness and smoke on the nose (2 points upgrade), but sour and hay-like on the palate (2 points downgrade). So it remains at 83 points. Solid stuff, this Clairin."

"Number 6 from the community tasting. Thanks Rumtata! Jamaica from Haiti - blindly I would have packed this into the Mid-East range from Trewlany. The rum is fruity and very round. This is delicious, but also a bit unspectacular because the Clairin-specific but very much in the background."

"#4517 09.12.2023 This is also a nice and fresh release. Medium fruity with nice floral notes. I love the might smoke in the profile. The finish is medium long and warming. The empty glass has a light perfume note."

"#4881 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Smooth, light funky, fruity, berries, faint caramel, light nutts, light rubber, light pineapple, light olive. Palate Balanced, oily, fresh, light vegetal, fruits, light herbal, light grass, faint caramel, berries, strawberry. Finish Long, fruits, banana, spice, light nutts, faint honey, light herbs. More yummy Clairin, I just love these releases and the price always fits the quality."

"Comparative series of ansyans Clairins. Quite a rough nose with medicine, whiskey, vegetal and a bit of oil. A surprisingly smooth mouthfeel when I was expecting a lot of strength. Vegetal and caramel. The finish is quite long and dominated by smoked/coated whisky. A very good rum but the rum and whisky flavours collide a bit without finding harmony."

"Série comparative de Clairins ansyens. Ici aussi du whisky presque pur au nez avec du fumé mais aussi de la douceur. En bouche des tannins boisés. Moins complexe que Le Rocher 21 mois (47,7%). La finale est belle mais aussi très typée whisky. Ce rhum pourrait même passer pour un whisky. Nous préférons tous les finitions ex-rhum aux finitions ex-whisky. Regouté et l‘impression est la même. Merci Dr. Django pour les samples."
