"Tastes a lot like the 1996 version, but less powerful flavors and a little sweeter. I prefer the 1996 version. The nose is fruity and woody with aromas of vanilla and oak. At the palate and during the rather long finish it’s complex, sweet, fruity and spicy with flavors of vanilla and oak."

"I’m not a big fan of the Spanish styled Ron, but I like the Rare Proof series from Malecon. I believe it depends on the rich taste and that the sweetness is very good balanced with the quite high ABV. This one isn’t the best of them, but certainly a very good one anyway."

"Malecon is one of my favorite Latin styled rum and this 13yo batch 2 doesn’t disappoint me. Hard to say how it it differs from batch 1. Should have needed a bottle from batch 1 to compare. The nose as well as at the palate it’s fruity and spicy with aroma and flavor of vanilla."

"One more great rum from Malecon. I really like the Rare Proof series. This one is a little stronger than the 20yo which gives it an significant character. The thing with this series that makes them so pleasant is the richness and that they balance the sweetness with the rather high ABV."

"Retasting this one today and it lost some points.,but that's what happens when it's a while back you tried it the first time 😊 Though sugar was added to this one it's a wonderful rum because they did not add a lot of sugar so the balance is perfect. Oak and spices are there from nose to finish and a bit of fruit as well. Price to quality is very good."

"This is one of those central american Rums that at least try to distinguish themself with some sort of flavor. This on rather manages itself good to create this really distinct dryness in character and comes along with dry wood and coffee aroma. I can understand why."

"Though it has a short finish it's still a pretty good rum. I have all of the releases on my shelf and this is the most recent one. Ligh and well balanced rum with a touch of oak and vanilla. In the back i find nuttyness and tobacco. "

"A retasting dropped som points. ----( We had a private tasting with a Malecon representative yesterday and had a great evening. This is a lovely rum and the finish is lightly dry and bitter in a good way so I think this one could be a hit with whisky lovers."
