Black Tot Rum Last Consignment
Top review from Kevin Sorensen š©š°:
"Retasting and I still like it a lot. ------- This is also e very expensive bottle and I'd say the price can be argued, but you can't argue the quality of the rum. The nose just hits you right in the face. Fruit and smoky oak hits you first and then comes the molasses and caramel with a whif of leather. The palate is complex yet wonderfully balanced. Roasted wood and oak hit the palate right away closely followed molasses, vanilla and light chocolate. There is an ever so light bitterness to the palate. The finish is long and surprisingly smooth with oak, vanilla and dried fruit."
Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 31 (Navy Blend Rum HQNB)
Top review from Jakob:
"Definitely not a straightforward Navy blend. Impressive complexity, much Jamaican influence, the high age is clearly recognizable. Mint, eucalyptus, tropical fruits, wood, spices...impressive! As a lover of complex rums, I feel perfectly picked up here. Definitely not a standard Navyrum because the heavy Guyana notes are almost entirely underrepresented, but that doesn't change the fact that this is an exquisite release. Chapeau!"
Black Tot Rum 50th Anniversary 2020
Top review from Kevin Sorensen š©š°:
"I just love this rum so I have ordered yet another backup bottle. This is a pretty well blended and also well balanced rum from Black Tot. Spicy bit well balanced with the other elements and you barely get a burn from the proof once rested for 15 minutes. The dominant rum in this blend is clearly the one from Guyana. You only get hints of the ones from Jamaica and Barbados. For the price a pretty good rum."
Black Tot Rum Master Blenderās Reserve 2021
Top review from Kevin Sorensen š©š°:
"06.10.2023 retasting between 2021 - 2022 - 2023 and it lost a few points. ------ What a wonderful rum. The base should be the same as the 50th anniversary but this one is more fruity and there are more esters in comparison. A great rum and the quality to price is very good. I was so lucky that they allowed me to buy two bottles :-) Enjoying this nice rum again and I stand by my score. Very good rum especially thinking about the price tag. Retasting this one today and I really like it. Good that I have several backup bottles."
Navy Rum Full Strength Blended Rum
Top review from Mirko Frosini š®šŖ:
"A rum like 15 year old Mulata that on taste reminds me of Caroni with those strong notes of barrel and tar. Really interesting with very good potential sin the light finish. Light hints of spices, roasting and chocolate, however well integrated. At the moment it comes 130 euros and because of such a fleeting finish I wouldn't know if it would merit purchase."
Black Tot Rum Master Blenderās Reserve 2022
Top review from Kevin Sorensen š©š°:
"06.10.2023 retasting between 2021 - 2022 - 2023 and it lost a few points. ------ Now we have 3 great Black Tot releases. The 50th Anniversary, Master Blender 2021 and Master Blender 2022 and I like them all. They're also scored pretty closely to each other by me. The releases are really close to each other so the day decides which one wins. I like the darkness of it with smoky wood and warm palate as well as the long finish. I was very surprised at the final result when sipping this one at the German Rum Fest and I will have a few bottles when accessible."
Black Tot Rum Master Blenderās Reserve 2023
Top review from zabo:
"Another step backwards compared to the 2021 bottling. A little better than the 2022, but unfortunately not outstanding either. Edit: Tasted again at leisure. Quite pleasant neat. Now also tried as a mixer in the CubaLibre, where I find it even better. Franconian Tasting Gang goes Tiki Better than the 2022"
50th Anniversary Rum
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Pusserās 50th Anniversary, was released to celebrate 50 years since the Black Tot Day. Itās limited to 4498 bottles and I was lucky to get three of the last bottles for sale in Europe. Itās a blend of rum from three different DDL stills (quite a lot from the Port Mourant wooden double pot still I believe) and two different Trinidad stills. The five different distillates, then Three years old, was thereafter blended at WIRD in Barbados and aged for four more years before bottled at ABV 54,5%, same ABV as for Pusserās Gunpowder Proof."
Kaiman
Top review from Kevin Sorensen š©š°:
"Retasting this one I admit that I would really have loved this rum to have a higher ABV because I think it would have greatly benefitted the rum. The nose is very fruity with burnt sugar and some grass to it (lile in a Jamaican rum). The palate is wonderful and has a bite on top of the fruity/spicy note. A lot of nice oak but not too much. The finish is long and slightly bitter with oak and ginger."
Clairin Communal Ansyen (Blend des quatre communes)
Top review from Mirko Frosini š®šŖ:
"In my opinion, at the moment, white clairins are much more interesting. The absolutely agreeable choice to age them is interesting, but still these rums fail to really take off. Certainly they have their own unmistakable imprint in the aromatic bouquet however, the work needs further improvement."
Papalin Haiti
Top review from Kevin Sorensen š©š°:
"12.10.2024 Romhatten Velier tasting. Retasting and I still like it, price to quality is very good in my mind. ----------------- #4565 20.01.2024 Relaxing a bit today āŗļø This is a nice release with nice fruits and light spices. The glue and solvent notes are light and actually becomes the profile. The palate is oily, warm and naturally sweet with some added anise. The finish is medium long and also lightly sweet. The empty glass has medicinal and faint smoky notes."
Papalin Haiti
Top review from Oliver:
"Wow, a complex clairin that is really fun! Great, soft nose. The 4 years of tropical maturation bring a great creaminess. Pear and fresh sugar cane are added. Alcohol very well integrated. A real insider tip!"
Black Tot Rum Master Blenderās Reserve 2024
Top review from zabo:
"Edit: tasted again, not bad, but from memory it doesn't come close to the Anniversary. Just sipped briefly, but the first impression is on the up again. Extensive tasting will take place on Saturday with the Franconian Tasting Gang and special guest Jakob."
Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 43 Deadset Blend
Top review from Gunnar Bƶhme "Bauerngaumen" š¤:
"Oh, I can't even taste a country, let alone a distillery, it's not sophisticated, but simply fantastically balanced and sips away, that's how it should be!"
Deptford Dockyard Reserve
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"This limited edition is released by Pusserās to commemorate the 52nd anniversary of Black Tot Day, July 31th 1970. Itās named after the naval base Deptford Dockyard where the Navyās most important spirit depot was established in 1742. At the depot there was around 30 storage vats that accommodated and aged more than 250,000 gallons of rum. This rum, the Pusserās Deptford Dockyard Reserve, is a blend of high esters rum from Guyana, Trinidad, Jamaica and Barbados just as the rum was in past. Today most of Pusserās rum is a blend just from Guyana. Itās aged for a minimum of three years in charred oak bourbon barrels before bottled at Gunpowder Proof level, 54,5%."
Coronation Reserve (2023 UP Spirits Edition)
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall a very nice rum which gives me, right or wrong, a feeling of a genuine rum similar to what was served onboard. Itās a limited edition from Pusserās that was released to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla. Itās made from Pot Still as well as Column Still rum from Guyana and Trinidad thatās aged for a minimum of three years in charred ex-bourbon barrels whereafter itās bottled at ABV 54,5%."
Jamaica Navy Strength
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"This Jamaican pot still rum at ABV 57% is a blend of distillates from Hampden, Worthy Park and Monymusk. Itās aged in former bourbon barrels. The color is deep amber with a little help from added color otherwise thereās no flavoring additives. The finish is rather long and itās very dry in the very end. Overall a well balanced full bodied Jamaican rum without being extremely heavy with taste of esters."
Signature Blend #2
Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"A Blend combining Jamaican funkiness and Guyana sweetness. The nose is dominated by the Jamaican influence of tropical fruits and solvents, with some notes of freshness and spices. In contrast, Guyana takes over on the palate with its chocolate, spice and caramel notes. The finish is more smoky and toasted, but unfortunately too short. A Blend that lacks a bit of balance, power and complexity but with an interesting quality/price ratio."
Jamaica Navy Strength
Top review from crazyforgoodbooze:
"Beautiful navy strength Jamaican. Great value for money and surprisingly mild for the young age and the 57%. Very complex and a nice introduction to the overproof Jamaica world!"
Black Tot Rum
Top review from Mirko Frosini š®šŖ:
"It did not impress me at all. Disappointing. Too much alcohol and anonymous aromas. It remains a pleasant after-meal rum, but uninteresting for tasting at a certain level. I expected more from a well reviewed rum...I probably failed to understand it."
Plantation O.F.T.D. Overproof
Top review from Mirko Frosini š®šŖ:
"Nice rum! The very low price and low confidence in low-end Plantations had me a bit conditioned. Strong, but really enjoyable with its crisp chocolate and coffee aromas!"
Dos Maderas 5 Years + 5 Years PX
Top review from Kevin Sorensen š©š°:
"Retaste this one and it's a very mild well rounded rum that I think can be used for beginners as well. Draws very nice curtains and the empty glass is full of flavours."
Latino
Top review from cigares :
"A light nose with a Demerara base, a hint of lemon and a hint of pastry. A light, acqueous, pastry-like palate. Clean and flawless, but a little too sweet. A short finish with vanilla cream. In short, a rum without qualities but pleasant to drink, very conciliatory and good value for money."
Plantation Original Dark
Top review from Gregor :
"Exciting rum. Aroma of honey and fruit. Taste of caramel and dried fruit. The taste is intense and slightly roasted dark tones. Price-performance ratio is definitely right. There are plenty of better ones. But for this price also a lot worse"
Plantation 3 Stars White
Top review from Decky Hicks Doughty:
"The nose is vanilla forward. Quite a lot of esters and a subtle citrus and white chocolate note. The palate has the vanilla from the nose but it's more mineral and less fruity. Some exotic woods. The finish is quite short. Vanilla and toasted coconut mainly. Overall its a decent white rum. I'm not too much of a fan of this mixed but it's very reasonably priced and not bad neat."
Caribbean Rum
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Got a 5cl sample of this rum from RR Tasting Club. The name Duppy Share comes from the Duppies which is a ghost taking the best part of rum around the Caribbean islands and is the same thing as Angels Share that is the āphenomenonā originally from Scotland. Itās a blend of 3yo pot still rum from the Worthy Park Distillery and 5yo column still rum from the Foursquare Distillery. Overall a recommendable rum especially when taking the price into account."
