"It is clear from the first whiff: we are dealing with a HERR. Wild, overripe pineapple and mango, strawberries and olives. Wow! On the palate, there's a pleasant crispness. Overripe strawberries, apricots and mangoes again. The tropical 8 years in a cognac barrel round it off successfully. Outstanding release!"

"Tag 9 im RumX-Ester-Kalender, blind. Dass hier trotz Ester kein Jamaika im Glas ist, war wohl schnell klar. Relativ schnell ging mein Tipp dann auch nach Réunion zu Savanna, da sich vor allem im Abgang das typische Profil der Destille zeigt. Unglaublich komplexe Nase, die aus dem Glas schon entgegenströmt und nahezu alles bietet: Frucht, schokoladige Noten, pflanzliches, Menthol, das macht Spaß! Am Gaumen dann schließlich etwas dunkler, rostiger, ja sogar bitterer, aber in einem angenehmen Maß. Dazu weiterhin eine bunte Ladung Ester, sodass keine Daseinsberechtigungen für den Kalender fehlen. Tolle Abfüllung und perfekt für diese Aktion!"

"what a grenade!!🤤⚡💥🤯🇷🇪 incredibly complex. After 1H of breathing, cinnamon pastry, apple pockets and honey banana on the nose. Plus Incredibly mild for 65%, horny sour cherry, pineapple, strawberry and mint, chamomile olive notes and very complex and dangerously drinkable. Musty, fermented and glue-heavy to no end. This thing is definitely the full broadside of Savanna Grande arome as it gets! The lava and Madras are here but I find even a good track geiler!"

"Crosstasting 14.05.2023: RX9388: 75/100 RX300: 76/100 RX14156: 87/100 RX7316: 89/100 RX308: 90/100 RX219: 92/100 RumX-Adventskalender 15.12.2023 What is striking about this rum is that you really don't feel any alcohol at all on the nose, but it really packs a punch in the mouth. This rum really has two very, very different sides."

"Really cool how much Savanna & Armagnac harmonize. Lots of wood, lots of spice, some glue, red chili flakes with dark chocolate raisin, red grape and baked banana, and dark chocolate cookies. Then also a bit bitter on the finish, astringent and with lots of tannins and glue, menthol and overripe banana and strong mocha, and Really Dark Dark Chocolate. Alcohol is very well integrated and really fun to drink. Very drinkable for a Savanna! For me in terms of Savanna in the Armagnac barrel definitely the benchmark currently."

"Nice nose with notes from the cask, dried fruits and some glue. Very enjoyable. Complex and elegant on the palate. Presenting dried fruits and lots of spices (cinnamon) in an excellent balance. Influence from the cognac cask is noticeable. Alcohol is very well integrated."

"Wirklich toller traditionelle savanna. Armagnac, Traube, grüner Apfel, Erdbeere, Minze, gebranntes Karamell, dunkle Schokolade, dezent Chili und insgesamt einfach sehr ausbalanciert. Erinnert leicht an den Maputo nur eben in deutlich "leichter". Schönes Ding!!"

"This is a retasting and I stick to my initial score. ----- #4130 This is a very nice and well balanced HERR release and if you like the HERR mark you have to try this one. The ABV has been well integrated and the floral and fruity notes just come at you from a distance. Oily and warm on the palate and it draws pretty nice curtains in the glass despite its age. The empty glass has some nice caramel and pastries."

"A rum tasted at Whisky Live in Paris in 2024 and Savanna high ester tasting. Overripe fruit on the nose, red fruit with banana, vegetal and light oak. The palate is lively and complex, with the same aromas as on the nose, plus a sort of bitter herb candy (Ricola) and dried herbs. Burnt caramel and pastries on the finish brighten up the dry herbs and vegetal. I find it much better than the Unshared Cask for France 2024."

"Tasted for the first time at ProWein in Düsseldorf. Lots of green apple and herbs (dill?) on the nose. On the palate creamy sweet (in a positive sense) and spicy floral. Some nutmeg and green fruits again. After half an hour the rum opens up and you are rewarded with a great balanced profile. Spicy, some floral and a pleasant sweetness. Alcohol very well integrated."

"Un rhum goûté au Rum and Gin Festival à Lucerne en 2023 et 2024. Un nez très végétal, floral avec de l’olive verte, des fruits jaunes et du lierre. La bouche est pleine d’arômes avec beaucoup d’olive verte et toutes sortes d’herbes et des fruits. La finale est assez longue avec des arômes végétaux, du tabac frais, du bois de cèdre et surtout de la gousse de vanille."

"This was a lovely Savanna and we all agreed that it was really good. Fruity and fresh and you could small the rum standing on the table in front of you. Price to quality is very good in my mind. The surprise comes when you sample it because the nose is a bit light but it explodes on your palate."

Unfortunately, I missed the only tasting due a delayed flight… This one took the third place in my tasting, very fruity, with some nice notes of furniture waxes, bitter orange and honey. "Second tasting: I have corrected my rating by -5 points because this bottling is not representative of the style "Grande Arome". The rum is still good but does not offer the typical spectacle for Grande Arome.nose: very present alcohol, I feel already as "pungent", no typical Grand Arome notes! Instead, influence of the wine barrel (sweet wine?)Palate: again sweetness and strong alcoholic presence, spicy notes, cocoa and barrel are added. No typical Savanna flavors like strawberry, gummy bear or Hubbabubba bubble gum but the wine barrel can be guessed.Finish: Not typical of a Grande Arome, the wine barrel has made the rum very balanced. Very good rum but not to be compared with a classic Grande Arome."

"A rum tasted at the Rhum Fest in 2024 and at the Masterclass for RumX 2024. A nose that vacillates between dark, woody, spicy, very lightly tarred and fruity (pear) and vegetal. The freshness is perhaps a little lacking. The palate is fruity with spices, wood and less vegetal than on the nose. The finish is rather short on yellow fruit and citrus. Spices and a hint of tar at the very end. The empty glass is beautiful."

"My first Savanna, I was directly in love. But after I tasted the 2007 Rum Nation, this one falls back a bit. Very very tasty and good Savanna, a little more alcoholic and less complex. But has something of everything, fruit, wood, spices and floral notes. Even with increasing experience still a great part"

"27.02.2021 A nice blind tasting in a friend's home. Bottles covered in tin foil and only numbers to match up the glass with the bottle. Notes Light to medium dark in colour. Nose Fresh, light wood, light roasted, or and, coconut, faint smoke, raisin. Palate Balanced, fresh, light wood, orange, coconut, light spicy, faint mint, light vegetal. Finish Medium long, light wood, dried fruit, light orange, faint licorice."

"Savanna Masterclass pour RumX 2024. Un nez dominé par la banane avec de la vanille. Un petit côté végétal (menthe?), et doucereux. La première bouche est acqueuse, la dilution se fait sentir. La banane est très présente. La finale est courte avec de la fraîcheur, un léger menthol et un léger boisé peu perceptible avant. Un rhum sans prétention mais agréable à boire."
