How does this rum taste?
- Intense flavor profile
- Unique Caroni cask finish
- Remarkable aroma complexity
The Wild Series Rum Jamaica No. 17 (Caroni Finish) DOK is a limited edition rum produced at the Hampden distillery and bottled by Romdeluxe. Distilled in 2019, this cask strength rum, with an ABV of 86.2%, combines the high ester character typical of Hampden with Caroni's unique cask influence. It reveals complex aromas of solvents, nail polish, and tropical fruit with a robust palate featuring notes of varnish, alcohol, and cinnamon-plum nuances. While praised for its power and complexity, some reviewers find the high alcohol content and Caroni finish overbearing.

"Very alcoholic from the pouring so I left it to rest for 30 minutes after which it had lost some of its teeth. Fruity with varnish and spice/chocolate. A super long finish. To put it into a few words. A monster :-) At the same time i got a package from one of my suppliers and it contained samples of all the Albert Michler "Colours of Rum". The smile on my face and excitement to give these a go in the near future can't be put into words........"

"I don't understand the rum. The 86% is certainly drinkable, as the alcohol is relatively well integrated. But is that what you want? Especially with the highest ester mark of the distillery, which is expressive in itself. The drop does not reveal any more DOK DNA than others bottled between 55-60 volumes. Then there is the Caroni finish. For a DOK? At 86%? With two years of storage? The cask influence is (understandably) not noticeable to me. As I said, I don't understand it."

"Wow! Truly an incomparable rum. The Caroni cask comes into its own in the taste and attack. Otherwise, of course, lots of Hampden Power. Great stuff!"

"Crass High Ester DOK! Caroni I do not really taste out, however; perhaps with some imagination. Nevertheless, very good!"
