How does this rum taste?
Value meets vibrant Hampden character: reviewers praise this unaged 69% bottling for bold funky esters and tropical fruit, balanced by a creamy texture. Aromas are intense with fruity solvent notes; on the palate it’s powerful yet smooth enough to sip. Versatile too—enjoyed neat or in mixers. I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
After several daiquiri variations with DomM, I finally tried it neat. Nothing extraordinary in my opinion. Solid and does what it should. A comparison with the Hampden RumFire is still pending, but I think the two are pretty similar, except for the price. Since it also had to compete against the Killik KLK in the Daiquiri, it unfortunately loses out to my favorite in the unaged category.
#5606 Enjoyed at the Colours of Rum tasting at the German Rum Fest 2025. Looking at the price tag you get a lot for your money. It can be enjoyed neat or in a mixer. I like the fruity and ester notes that make it nicely together. A smooth sipper in my mind.
Intense and powerful, delivering on what you would expect from an unaged HLCF. On the nose lots of funk and power. Tropical fruits and solvent notes. Lots of fruits on the palate. Creamy texture. Some salt and olive notes. Nice as expected. From memory a bit more exiting than Hampden Fire despite being the same thing afaik.
Wahrlich kein außergewöhnlicher Hampden, aber gute Qualität.
