Pure Single Jamaican Rum Overproof
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"A really good Jamaican style rum with a real punch. I'd say most may need a few drops of water to make it a lot more digestible. Rest for 15-20 minutes for all flavours to be released. Has more bang for your buck than the 92 proof version."

"Magnificent! On the nose tar, barrel and lightly cherry and vanilla. In the mouth an explosion of perfectly balanced sensations. Still tar, barrel and followed by toastiness and chocolate with a mix of spices.Intense finish that lingers until the next day.In my small way, one of the best rums I have tasted. I assigned 94 because there are too many great rums that I have never tasted and may never taste."

"Does not fall in the blind direct comparison with the Velier Albions. Classic Albion notes of sweet vanilla, oak and caramel, but with a somewhat too noticeable bitter note on the palate, without which it would go even higher. Serious alternative in the (still) tolerable price range."
Plenipotenziario
Top review from crazyforgoodbooze:
"An extremely tasty number that is dominated above all by the floral tones of rose and Thai flying mango, which then alternate with nutty and chocolaty aromas. Mega exciting, extremely palatable and a complexity like this is very rare with Foursquare. Absolutely outstanding for me! It has become one of my favorite sipping rums. I think this could really be my absolute favorite Foursquare!"

"Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: Develops amazing aromatic complexity with a little patience and time spent in the bottle. Rather dry Caroni with only discreet, but very charming residual sweetness and a lot of barrel influence, which is undoubtedly intense, but does not tip into the too bitter. One of the bottlings where the long availability is qualitatively inexplicable. Exceptionally good."

"Velier FS (+ a fee spected other contenders) blind cross tasting: Honestly, the results here were very close. The Belier bottlings display a very high quality thourgout the range. Triptych and Pleni came out on top for me closely followed by Destino. I was somewhat surprised, that Sassafras and 2006 came out rather at the bottom, while I enjoyed both very much on their own. Raconteur also quite low in the ranking with Principia clearly at the bottom."

Papalin Réunion
Top review from Rodolphe:
"I wasn't a fan of the Papalin range until now. But La Velier has come up with a very good Reunionese at a nice price. It's a perfect representation of the rhums trad found there, with the fruity side of the grand aroma, present but not overpowering. It drinks well, is pleasant, vegetal, floral, woody and fruity. A great success. In the end, it's what I expected from savanna's Le Must, which doesn't emphasize the fruitiness of the grand arôme enough. This is the case here."

"Very inviting nose with dried apricots, raisins and delicate chocolate notes. The palate can then unfortunately not quite keep up with the fantastic nose. Slight alcoholic spiciness perceptible - was briefly even with unsweetened, Spanish style at barrel strength. But that is criticism at a high level. Relatively dry, spicy and pleasant wood notes.Very nice Enmore!"

Top review from Jakob:
"Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: Very round Caroni, which has not been harmed by the slight reduction to Navy Strength. The rum brings the 96 sweetness in perfection to the expression, in addition sounds rubber, fresh oak and vorallem a present spiciness from coffee, pepper and clove. Was for a long time a still well available Caroni representative from 1996, but has now "caught up" and is also increasing in price - but here it may at least be noted that the quality in the glass is absolutely convincing. An excellent representative of the m.E. anyway outstanding vintage 1996."

"Retasting and I stick to my older score. Very popular among the other tasters and the story of how it came to be was really cool. ----- Old tasting note below ----- I do like a navy rum and this is a nice blend actually. Stille doesn't beat my favourite Black Tot 50th and Master Blander edition. Medium heavy navy rum with oak and spices. Nice warm and spicy on the palate. There is a hint of smoke and solvents, but the overall balance is pretty good actually. Price to quality is very good."

"Very tasty! Great nose, in the first moment when you take a sip it has briefly a somehow unpleasant mouthfeel. However, this fades very quickly, then spreads a great flavor palette in the mouth! The rum develops from rather acidic ester notes to a sweetish pear with a slight eucalyptus note."

"CoR-Tasting GRF13: Sehr minziger frischer TDL mit einigen Kräuter-Noten. Alkohol ist deutlich spürbar und präsent. Insgesamt eine ansprechende Abfüllung, die aber nicht an die 2001-2003er Jahrgänge herankommt. Man hätte ihm etwas mehr Zeit zum entwickeln veben sollen"

Top review from Jakob:
"One of the better Mount Gay rums I know - but the profile remains too insignificant for me. Alcohol integration seems to be a constant challenge of the distillates, moreover, the flavor spectrum remains overall quite close together. Smoky notes, oak, spices - here for a change with some tropical fruit freshness. Can not inspire me, unfortunately."
SVW
Top review from Jakob:
"Top rum, but it does not come close to the level of Velier's 1996 SVW. The aroma profile is almost identical, but is somewhat stronger in the spicy notes and at the same time has less expression in the vanilla notes that were so famous in the 1996 SVW. For me, therefore, just below the magic 9.0-point mark, but of course still an exquisite release."

Top review from cigares :
"RumX Rarities day 8. A classic Demerara nose with varnished wood, leather, smoke, encaustic and tropical fruit in the background. The palate has a gentle attack, then develops lots of aromas. Prunes appear and incense transforms the English club into a medieval church. Smokiness is more pronounced than on the nose. Slightly unpleasant spiciness on the mid-palate. The finish is long on wood/plum/smoke/incense. A very fine rum, the kind that tells a story. I like it very much. The empty glass sees the tropical fruit reappear. The spiciness of the mid-palate takes a few points off."

Top review from RumTaTa:
"Shortly after opening and pouring, the whole room smells of glue! This rum cannot be mistaken for Hampden! It is not easy to "smell past" the esters. Ripe pineapple and marzipan are definitely behind it. Slightly weaker vanilla, pastry and yoghurt also yellow fruits. On the palate, I find the rum much more balanced! The barrel and roasted aromas are added here, as well as a salty note and olives, which form a nice interplay with the fruity sweetness. I also really like the seamless transition to the almost endless finish. The salty note picks up speed here. An excellent, intense, "thoroughbred" Hampden. According to the BAT blog, Hampden produced the Mark OWH in 2013. However, this rum is definitely one of the <>H"

Top review from Jakob:
"It has all the characteristics of the extremely intense 2001 vintage, but thanks to the comparatively low strength, the rum is not overpowering, but rather invites you to discover the aromas. Due to the significantly lower strength, there is of course a lack of intensity here and there, but the rum does not appear really thin. Not enough for the absolute top class from 2001, but in my eyes the rum is nowhere near as clearly inferior as the current overall rating suggests - but of course the same applies here: De gustibus non est disputandum."

"Tasted at J. B. Labat and at the German Rum Festival in parallel with cask #10. A rather light, machine-shop nose with quite a lot of fruit. Like a buttery side too. The palate is lively, but like the nose, rather balanced between machine shop notes and fruit. The finish is long and delicious, as is the empty glass. A rum with fairly few rough edges, but rather in balance. A better nose than cask #10, but the palate is far less interesting."

Top review from lukasdrinkinghabits:
"Meanwhile, I am a real Ten Cane fan. The profile is relaxed and yet not too simple. It is dominated by berries (currants and blackberries and spices (cumin, coriander seeds), plus some citrus and a somewhat imposed vanilla note from the oak.In the mouth, this is unfortunately a bit too tame, rather sweet fruits, plus some spices from the nose. In the soft finish, a few tannins are added.Compared to the somewhat stronger sister bottling, it is a bit less complex and intense, but more relaxed to drink. Tie."

Top review from Jakob:
"A rum you can't really dislike. Super pleasing, sweet profile, without ever seeming clumsy, sticky or uninteresting. The other flavors around smoke, spice and nuts are also so harmoniously embedded that there is neither too much bitterness, spicy sharpness nor too hackneyed sweetness. This balance is unfortunately somewhat at the expense of complexity, which is why it is not enough for me to the very highest consecration. Nevertheless, impressive quality and an excellent rum that shows its existing flavor profile in perfection."

Top review from Jakob:
"Successful selection - typical profile for continental aged rums from the Single Wooden Pot Still of Port Mourant. At the beginning peanut, toast, plus fresh with citrus notes and yellow fruits. The palate adds an elegant sweetness that aromatically reminds me of dried fruit, syrup and a hint of marzipan. In addition, the PM-typical wood influences with anise - all in all, a coherent bottling, which nicely shows the potential of long aging time for the continental aged PMs."

Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"Tasted against the RC REV 2006 (RX16863). And hard to detect any difference at all. Perhaps the RdL is a bit smoother and a bit shorter and somehow slightly musty in the finish, where the RC struts away there full of power broad-legged. But this is only a nuance and possibly due to the form of the day. Both rums are extraordinarily successful representatives of their kind. 😍 😍"

"Relatively relaxed PM profile with spices and dry fruits and nicely balanced green notes. The palate reveals a flavorful complexity of wood, dried fruit, tea, cinnamon, chocolate and subtle pastry notes. Successful barrel selection!"

"Un rhum dégusté au GRF en 2024, masterclasse CoR. Un nez sec avec des esters mais aussi des herbes sèches et un côté sucré qui vient sans doute du PX. "The Epic Velier Caroni Tasting: Complex with pointed sweetness and heavy fruit notes, which are contrasted by the barrel influences, tart spiciness and subtle Caroni dirt notes. "04.05.2024 Retasting during a nice exclusive tasting at Romdeluxe. I stick to my score and I still love it. -------------------------- This is a wonderful rum with a limited to 265 bottles. The destillery is listed as "secret" but the taste is definitely El Salvador. The proof has been so well integrated, that you don't really need to add water to this one. Fruity with spice and a nice hint of oak all the way from the nose to the finish. There is a hint of the bourbon cask as well. Price to quality is very good."
Demerara Rum
Top review from Jakob:
"Intense spectrum of predominantly cocoa, oak, caramel, tobacco and spices. This is accompanied by subtle mineral notes, hints of dried and yellow fruit and roasted nuts. The aroma spectrum of the heavy sweetness is almost perfectly pronounced, especially on the nose, from caramel to vanilla and fully ripe mango. In the mouth, the high alcohol content is unfortunately a little too noticeable and somewhat overshadows the overall profile. In the end, I feel there is a slight lack of contrast to this heavy sweetness, such as dark fruits or more nuanced spices. Nevertheless, this is still a great distillate."

Top review from Jakob:
"The REVs actually continue to gain with increasing age. Compared to other releases a little less intense on the characteristic dried plum aroma, but with much more aromatic complexity by very present, but not exuberant wood influence, a slight floral impact and gallant spicy notes, which put the heavy sweetness a very appealing counterpart. Excellent release."
Demerara (Blue Label)

"The rum is bottled by the Danish independent bottler RomDeLuxe. The rum is 3yo and aged in american oak barrels, comes from the Richland Distillery Georgia, USA. It’s distilled in a Copper Pot Still from Cane Syrup. There are some similarities with Agricole, which I like. Overall a very good rum to be so young that tastes a little in between Agricole and more traditional rum."

"Got this sample for free from RumX. It’s a mix of column and pot still distilled rum that’s aged for 11 years, first for 5 years tropical and then 6 years continental. It has spent 5 years in an ex-bourbon barrel and 5 years in an ex-whisky barrel. Finally it was bottled in 259 bottles at 61,1%. Overall an OK rum, but with too strong alcoholic taste, that’s not near Foursquare’s own bottlings."

Top review from Dr.Django:
<3 88 Pkt. Vielen Dank an Mto75 für die Samples!"

"A rum tasted at WLP. And tasted again 20 months later. A powerful nose that remains balanced, pastry-like and makes you want to go on. "O.k. o.k., this one is a lot better than the one with the Madeira finish. CoR has probably just got its act together. The finish doesn't overpower everything here. But much better than the Madeira. An unpleasant acidity emerges again in the finish."

Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"When nosing this rum it was the smell of my old friends wood workshop. An intense, well balanced and complex rum with nice deep dark flavours. The wood is heavy in a good way and the light fruit and vanilla compensates for it really well. I like the nice clear licorice in there as well. A great rum with even greater history. This rum was made in the original destillery before it was closed down 😊"

Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"It's clear to see what's happened here: the quality of bottled rum leaves much to be desired, and with ever-higher prices. Typical Enmore spices (aniseed, licorice, pepper), toasted oak, raisins and a touch of flowers and honey can be detected, but the nose remains very reserved, not to say insipid. The rum doesn't fare much better on the palate: the relatively low degree makes for a light, not so aromatic rum with an impression of dilution (even if it wasn't, in theory at least). Spices, wood, caramel and dried fruit make up the entire aromatic and taste spectrum, and this with low intensity. The finish is very short, with the same aromas. No sooner swallowed than forgotten, this rum will not be remembered by its bottler or distillery, except for its irrational price tag, especially when El Dorado releases an Enmore of the same vintage, under tropical aging, for half the price and twice the flavor."

Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"A fairly straightforward Hampden low ester, with tropical fruit, vanilla, a little wood and a pinch of medicinal touches on the esters on the nose. Pastry aromas add roundness to the nostrils. A relatively simple nose, but one that lacks the depth to make a real impression. The attack on the palate is initially lively, tense and biting on the esters, before softening on exotic fruits and the sweetness of marzipan. Citrus fruits add a touch of acidity. Regrettably, apart from the palate entry, the rum remains flat on the palate, without the slightest surprise. The alcohol could be better integrated. The finish is of decent length, with more floral and medicinal aromas. The funkiness comes out more, with the barrel adding tannins. A rum that clearly needs aeration to express itself, but whose finish alone cannot create ecstasy."

"Quite solid continental Caroni, fortunately bottled at high alcohol strength. Top review from Jakob:
"Great nose with lots of caramel, vanilla sweetness, oak wood, some coffee, dried fruit...the rum is extremely helped by a slightly longer time in the glass, a very pleasant aroma spectrum opens up on the palate with increasing oxidation. Caramel and vanilla provide a pleasant sweetness, along with woody notes, a pleasant spiciness and dried fruit again. Slightly fresher and spicier than the other Diamond releases of the vintage, compared to the tropically aged releases with less opulent aromas from the oak barrel. The DNA of the '96 Diamonds is recognizable, with a more delicate character than many of its sister releases from the recent past. I needed some time to get to grips with the rum, but in direct comparison with other recent 1996 Diamond releases in particular, I recognize some exciting and, in a positive sense, independent notes in this bottling."

Top review from Jakob:
"Many pleasing notes of vanilla, caramel, chocolate; as the taste progresses, subtle spices, a recognizable roasted aroma and reduced mineral-medicinal notes join in. Knowing that recognizable Caroni notes are often present in TDLs from 1991 - which, thanks to the sometimes liberal use of casks from neighbouring distilleries, have little to do with chance - I always have some hope for the classic tar and gum aromas in 1991 Trinidad releases. These play a subordinate role here at best, which is why the overall profile is a little too straightforward. A rum that remains pleasant to drink, unfortunately without any well-founded potential for enthusiasm."

"A very good Caroni that I liked especially for its perfect balance and excellent aging. Both the nose and the taste is at a very high level. Especially by its ethereal florality, it stands out a little from other Caronis I have tasted so far. No idea in which fragrance profile the Chaconia is located, but flowers are definitely a small part of the aroma spectrum."

Top review from Aussierumfan:
"A lovely 1997 continentally aged Caroni. As always Tar, rubber and oils but then Im getting a pleasant sweetness coming through as well! Fruits, coffee/chocolate as well as some wood. The oak isn't overpowering at all. Very enjoyable with a longish finish."

"#4529 16.12.2023 Here you get what you pay for or maybe even a bit less. The roasted note is pretty strong even after resting for a good while. Medium fruity with some chocolate and the the roasted wood notes. The palate is lightly dry with and slightly out of balance/rough edges. The finish is medium long and has some dried fruit to it. The empty glass has a light orange note."

"15.06.2012 Lanternen, Kolding Celebrating a friend's birthday in this bygone bar. Notes Light to medium dark in colour. Nose Light, round, wood, light smoke, plum, dried fruit, herbs, light nutts. Palate Light, wood, roasted, licorice, dried fruit, light bitterness, faint leather. Finish Medium long, wood, roasted, raisin, plum, light licorice."
The Golden Age of Piracy Edward Low
Top review from Jakob:
"For me, the positive surprise from the third Piracy release. The usual profile of long tropically matured molasses rums from ex-bourbon casks comes to the fore here in its purest form. What does that mean? On the one hand, there is nothing new here in terms of aroma. Belize or Foursquare serve a comparable spectrum; nonetheless, an even more tart tonality brings in new echoes here. It is precisely the familiar aromas of caramel, vanilla, oak and spices that are present here in an appealing form. The alcohol is still somewhat dominant at the beginning, but after a little time in the glass it gives way to the other aromas and reveals a good balance of elegant sweetness, oak wood influences and subtle spicy aromas. If this represents the usual quality of Westerhall releases aged in tropical conditions for a long time, I'm excited to see what else awaits us in the future."

"26.01.2013 Had a nice meet up with other nerds at this old hotel. Afterwards some played at the Casino. Notes Medium dark colour. Nose Wood, light roasted, light caramel, faint leather, banana, faint tar. Palate Intense, wood, light smoke, orange, banana, overripe, light caramel, earthy, light tar. Finish Medium to long, wood, light smoke, dried fruit, light caramel."
Caroni Distillery Heavy Trinidad Rum
Top review from DomM:
"Nose is more dirt forwards with some sour/vinegar note to it. On the palate: points for some classic Caroni notes. Unfortunately this is all a bit one dimensional and lacks complexity. Not a bad bottling, but definitely not the pinnacle of 98 Caronis tbh."
Precious Moments
Top review from Jakob:
"The 1999 Caroni vintage is quite convincing: caramel sweetness meets dirty tar and gum notes, wood, spices and dark chocolate and coffee. In addition, crisp roasted aromas - the Scotchman is just ahead for me, because the profile is still a bit rounder overall, but 1999 lands for me among the continental Caronis increasingly clear before releases from 1997 and 1998."
Tortuga No. 3 (East Asia Whisky)
Top review from Zucker und Zeste:
"Der Tortuga gefällt mir extrem gut, weil er für mich die typischen Caroninoten aus diesem Jahrgang herauskitzelt und dieses Finish perfekt für diese Rum zu passen scheint. Ich finde ihn komplex und kräftig. Er ist natürlich kein „all Day Sipper“, sondern ein Rum auf den man an dem Tag auch Lust haben muss. Eine absolut geniale Erfahrung! Und Zeit sollte man mitbringen, denn es gibt viel zu entdecken."

"Very tasty but also tame caroni. Has something of Haribo cola bottles with smoked sandalwood, some tropical fruits and gasoline. Overall, however, very light and elegant"
Old Music! Series Burrokeet Edition
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Wow, this Caroni hits you smack in the face. When you open and pour there's no doubt this is a Caroni. The nose is intense with Caroni flavours, rubber, tar and petrol, wow. Wood, fruit and chocolate then pops out and a light hint of leather to finish off. The palate is picking up where the nose left off. Toasted oak, tar and rubber is there right off the bat followed by fruit and licorice a d i sence a minty/menthol note in there as well. The finish is very long, as in very long, dry and spicy with some tobacco and light fruits. A very good Caroni."

Small Batch Rare Rums
Top review from crazyforgoodbooze:
"Why do you have to put a '98 caroni in a whisky barrel for 70 months? Everything that could have been great here was ruined. Wasted potential. 250€ for a 98 caroni is still too much as the finish devalues it enormously... You can drink it, but here rum nation has once again "improved" what is certainly a great rum... Too bad!"

"#4291 07.10.2023 this was a 7 hour long event with 3 friends and it was a nice day. This one was nice and the flavours came as soon as it was poured. Nice and fruity profile with natural sweetness the palate is spicy with fruits and vanilla. The finish is long and warm. I really like the minty touch in the profile. The empty glass had eucalyptus and light caramel."

"This is a very well rounded release from Foursquare and the ABV is perfectly integrated. Fruity with wood, vanilla and chocolate notes. The coconut is not dominating but light and completes the profile."
