Plantation Extra Old XO 20th Anniversary
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Delicious and a lot of tropical fruit. Vanilla is coming through in this one and it sticks for a while.A super rum to sit and sip with your friends.A very good beginners rum in my mind,"
Diplomático / Botucal Reserva Exclusiva
Top review from Oliver:
"With this rum, many have discovered their love for rum. By the sweetness and complaisance the ideal entry. Meanwhile, however, it is clearly too sweet and one-dimensional for me. Nevertheless, a recommendation for all who want to collect their first steps in the pure enjoyment of spirits."
Ron Zacapa Solera Centenario 23
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This is a very well balanced rum from Zacapa and I like is a lot especially considering the price tag. The nose is heavy with spice and sweetness and a touch of orange zest and chocolate. The palate is well rounded with caramel, honey and chocolate topped of with burnt oak and overripe fruits. It has a long, sweet and fruity finish with burnt oak. I'd say this one is better than the bottling from the late 90s and early 00s that won medals. Price to quality is very good. "
Pure Single Jamaican Rum
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"This rum, together with its Overproof brother, marking an historic moment for all rum enthusiasts loving the funky 100% pot still rum from Jamaica. Now we don’t need to buy expensive Veliers. The nose is fruity and spicy with esters. At the palate it’s complex, intense and funky with strong flavors of fruits and spices."
El Dorado 12
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"It’s quite sweet, almost too sweet. The new 2020 release is therefore much better. It tastes a lot of Demerara sugar. But I believe it’s one of the better entries to the rum world if you still can get a hold of a bottle."
Dos Maderas 5 Years + 5 Years PX
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Retaste this one and it's a very mild well rounded rum that I think can be used for beginners as well. Draws very nice curtains and the empty glass is full of flavours."
Pampero Aniversario
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Tried to use this rum in a rum/raisin cake and the result was amazing. This is a rum in the cheaper end of the spectrum and it's definitely a good beginner rum. Not as sweet as the rums from Riise, but getting close to it. The nose is light and sweet with chocolate, vanilla and oak with a touch of butterscotch. The palate is sweet with chokolate and nougat, but it also has a slight bitterness with nuts and fruits. The endof the palate has smoke to it. The finish is sweet with smoky leather and vanilla. Price to quality is very good."
Smith & Cross Traditional Jamaican Rum
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"If you should have just one Navy strength rum in your bar, this is the one. The nose is complex with aromas of esters, fruits and spices. At the palate it’s complex and funky with flavors of esters, fruits and spices. The finish is quite long and dry."
Black Tot Rum
Top review from Mirko Frosini 🇮🇪:
"It did not impress me at all. Disappointing. Too much alcohol and anonymous aromas. It remains a pleasant after-meal rum, but uninteresting for tasting at a certain level. I expected more from a well reviewed rum...I probably failed to understand it."
Rare Blend 12 Years
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"A very good everyday rum. The nose is rather round but mostly woody and fruity with a little spiciness and a little roasted. At the palate the aromas comes back rather strongly as flavors (except for the roastiness) with a certain sweetness."
Doorly‘s 14 Years
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"The nose on this rum is really nice and it may remind you of some of the Last Ward rums, not as complex but very well balanced. The palate has been perfectly rounded with the perfect proof. So no alcohol dominance but a perfect balance. The orange really shines through and the price to quality is very good. "
Dictador 12 Years
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Had a very nice Dictador tasting this Sunday and this is the first one of the six. Despite this one being a young rum from the destillery it still manages to be very complex with a very nice nose and palate. The vanilla is perfectly matched with the rest and the finish is long and has a bit of smoke to it. All in all a very good price tag for this bottle. This bottle won gold at the International Rum Expert Panel 2010."
Plantation Isle of Fiji
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall is the nose unpleasant, palate better than expected and too short finish. The nose is fruity, spicy and smoky with additional smells of glue, alcohol and vanilla. At the palate it tastes like the nose indicated except for alcohol and glue, instead it’s very sweet."
Plantation Grande Réserve
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Typical Barbadian in nose and palate. A very young rum so don't expect too much from it. A pleasant nose and ok semi complex fruity palate with a finish that ends almost before it begins. Price to quality is very good."
XO - Triple Cask Blend
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Whisky & Rom Festival 2023 28.10.2023 Another retaste and it still performs pretty well. Price to quality is pretty good. ------------------------- This is a very nice and easy sipping rum from Mount Gay. A typical Bajan rum in nose and palate. The nose is elegant with spice, a bit of orange and charred barrel. The palate starts off with a bit of sweetness, spicy and a bit dry. There is some leather and earthyness to it as well. The finish is medium long, dry and with charred oak and ginger. Again a tiny bit of earthyness on the way out."
Ron Barceló Imperial
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Another nice tasting finished, this time with rums from the Domenican Republic. In my mind this rum will be too sweet for many, but a good rum none the less. The complexity is hidden under the sweetness and in my mind it should have been amped up with a little more proof. Price tag is really good compared to what you get. "
Ron Zacapa Centenario XO Solera (3. Edition)
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This nice sipper has to rest for a while before nosing or you'll get a punch of alcoholic blast. The nose is wonderfully smooth even velvety I'd say. Smoky wood and fruity with toffee and spices. The palate is complex and very well balanced with smoky oak and spices and a hint of the cognac cask it was finished in. The finish is long and sweet with spices and coffee and once again a hint of the cognac cask."
Fine Aged Rum
Top review from DosenZorn:
"Have bought this rum mainly because of the beautiful bottle. Actually a Red Flag, if you are looking for good taste, this one has surprised me relatively positively. Due to the only 40% somewhat watered down and thin and not too complex but a nice Feierabend Sipper at a good price. Definitely a great entry rum and superior to the many dead sugared competitors.Addendum: last drop is out of the bottle. Complex? Rather less. Good sipper? Definitely. A good unsweetened representative of the Spanish style. A little more power would have done it good. A >50% version would be nice. Still, great price/performance. Overall rating 2"
Dictador 20 Years
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Had a very nice Dictador tasting this Sunday and this is the second one of the six. This is the second time I have this rum in a tasting and this time it got a few more points. This rum is made from sugarcane and honey molasses, which is pretty rare. In this rum you can really smell and taste the honey. This is a must try if you like Zacapa rum because they're pretty similar. Price to quality is very good. This rum won gold at the 2010 International Rum Expert Panel. "
Centenario Fundación 20 Años Reserva Especial
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"I think this is a very under rated rum. It's in the cheaper end yet its complexity is very convincing. A wonderful sweet, fruity and spice nose going into a complex well balanced heavy palate. The finish is long, a bit sweet and has a nice peppery sting to it. Price to quality is very good. "
Single Estate Reserve
Top review from Mirko Frosini 🇮🇪:
"Interesting rum mainly because I found it an unusual Jamaican because of some of the fruity notes. As the mere novice that I am, at a blind tasting, I would have mistaken it for an agricultural. Very light toastiness. Medium-long finish with a prevalence of lychee."
Selección de Maestros
Top review from Mirko Frosini 🇮🇪:
"A good rum. A club havana that stands out from the classic reserva and 7-year-olds and demonstrates the distillery's talents. Unfortunately, higher end havanas cost too much for me to understand the true potential of the brand.Medium finish. Cocoa/chocolate notes mixed with vanilla and fleeting barrel. I don't understand why Spanish rums insist on lengthening them."
1888 Doblemente Añejado
Top review from Tim :
"The good thing about this rum is that it has not been excessively sugared, like many other rums from this category. However, it is not particularly praiseworthy at first sight because of the alcoholic note, but if you give it a little time, you get a wonderfully woody sherry nose. In addition, caramel and some fruit. In the mouth then even the dark flavors dominate, which makes this rum something special."
Plantation 3 Stars White
Top review from Decky Hicks Doughty:
"The nose is vanilla forward. Quite a lot of esters and a subtle citrus and white chocolate note. The palate has the vanilla from the nose but it's more mineral and less fruity. Some exotic woods. The finish is quite short. Vanilla and toasted coconut mainly. Overall its a decent white rum. I'm not too much of a fan of this mixed but it's very reasonably priced and not bad neat."
Rum Fire
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"It’s a triple distilled pure pot stills HLCF rum which gives an ester level of 500-600. The finish is rather long and tastes about the same as on the palate. I think it’s the best of the three big white Overproof’s from Jamaica, it’s funky, potent, complex and powerful without being too pungent."
El Pasador XO
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall an OK Latino rum with a little too weak taste. It’s fruity, spicy and sweet without being extremely sweet. Recognizable aromas and flavors is raisins, coconut, vanilla, pepper, chocolate and caramel."
Millonario Solera XO
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Retasting this one as a dessert rum and it does well at that. This is a very sweet rum in my mind and you could use it for dessert actually. Again a solera blend of rums aging from 15 to 20 years."
Pure Single Jamaican Rum Classic HLCF
Top review from Mirko Frosini 🇮🇪:
"Nice rum, but a little under compared to batch1. The presence of a slight solvent note I liked less and it is less intense. However, we are talking about finesse and personal taste. We are dealing with a rum that I would drink all the time! I do not understand all these new versions of Hampden Velier that I find little different from each other and especially pòco justified in terms of value for money. Velier lately is focusing too much on collectors with the result of making the bottles unobtainable already upon release and overpriced."
Chairman’s Reserve The Forgotten Casks
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"It’s distilled in Coffey and Pot stills and then first aged separately before blended and aged for three more years. Total aging is six to eleven years.I think it’s a little bit better than their classic Reserve. In the front of the mouth it doesn’t taste very much, but when you swallow it all flavors arrive and stays there trough the rather long finish."
Lazy Dodo Single Estate
Top review from Gregor :
"Angenehmer Einsteiger. Viel dörrpflaume und auch andere trockenfrüchte. Generell ein sehr schöner Holzeinfluss. Leider für mich ein wenig zu viel süße. Ein sehr schöner Übergangsrum um von den total süßen Einsteigern sich an die trockenen Varianten heranzutasten"
1796 Antiguo de Solera
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"One of the better Spanish styled “Ron”. It’s well balanced, smooth and not as sweet as most of the “Ron’s”. The nose is fruity and smoky as well as at the palate together with vanilla. Unfortunately is the finish much too short."
Black Barrel
Top review from Joachim Guger:
"The nose is very good for a starter rum. Oak, tobacco, fruit and then polish. Very well balanced. In the mouth then disappointment. Woody, one dimensional and thin. The alcohol stings. As I said, a good introduction to unsweetened rum."
Veritas Blended Rum
Top review from Agricoler:
"Also highly recommended neat for the price - an absolute cracker. Really nice banana and green fruit on the nose. Top mixer that I always have a bottle of at home. The best in white from Jamaica and Barbados combined."
Exceptional Cask Selection XXI 2010
Top review from DomM:
"Another high quality bottling out of the „vintage“ ECS range at a very good price point. Delivers the classic Foursquate notes at a high ABV (ie high intensity), providing a nice sipping experience. Side-by-side with the 2011 ECS, this one has more glue-y notes on the nose alongside the classic FS profile. Similar in the palate: more punch versus the 2011, ie a bit less balance and a little more demanding."
HSE Black Sheriff One Shot
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"It’s a blend of three-to-four-year old rum aged in American oak bourbon barrels It’s quite young and that’s noticeable when it’s coming to the deep in the rum and the powerfulness. Overall I’m getting a little of a whisky feeling, but that’s not bad. I think it’s quite good for being so young. "
109 Jamaica Rum
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"This Pot Still rum is a blend of rums that’s consisting of unaged rum as well as rum aged for up to 3 years. Overall it’s a great high esters, funky and well balanced rum with heavy flavors. The nose is fresh and fruity. At palate it’s quite heavy, funky and oaky."
Angostura 1919
Top review from Leo Tomczak:
"Amazingly good. Nose full of Trinidad. Very light taste, of course. I think it's only moderately suitable for beginners, as you'd expect something pleasantly sweet in this price segment. The TDL aromas come through well, almost herbal/tar. I am very positively surprised."
Rhum Traditionnel Le Must
Top review from Galli33:
"Thanks to the RumX Team for this great opportunity!! Unfortunately, I missed the only tasting due a delayed flight… This one took the third place in my tasting, very fruity, with some nice notes of furniture waxes, bitter orange and honey. A really nice daily driver, without looling on the price tag!"
Cinabrio Ron 12 Años
Top review from crazyforgoodbooze:
"very nice play of orange peel, tangerine & toffee, clearly better than the old 12 cihuatan. apparently not only the design but also the recipe has been improved again here.👌🏽 overall, however, it is a bit woody and one-dimensional but nicely orangey. I find the indigo better in terms of plv."
HSE Grande Reserve XO
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"18.11.2023 Yet another retasting and I still like the profile. --------------------- Retasting at the German Rum Fest and I still like it. ----- We had a go at several HSE today and I'm a bit tipsy from it."
English Harbour 5 Years
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"The molasses comes from Dom. Rep. and Guyana. After distillation it’s aged in former bourbon and Tennessee whiskey barrels between five and eight years before blended and bottled. In my opinion is this an outstanding everyday rum, especially when taking the price into account."
Abuelo XII Two Oaks
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Got this 5cl sample in my second batch from Rum Ratings Tasting Club and participated in the virtual tasting yesterday. The Abuelo XII Two Oaks is a 12yo rum stored in two different types of oak barrels. First on traditional Tennessee whiskey / bourbon casks during 11 years, and then a final storage on deep-fried casks of new American white oak. It’s produced from both molasses and sugar cane juice by Varela Hermanos. The sugar content is 24 gpl, so it’s sweet but not extremely sweet."
Ron Barceló Imperial Onyx
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Got a sample of this rum from RR Tasting Club. It’s OK, but nothing more. Don’t know if there’s any added sugar, but there’s a certain sweetness. Could maybe be something for those who want to taste something less sweet than DRE or Zacapa 23."
Ryoma Rhum Japonais
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"I think this rum is one of the most misunderstood ones in the market. I've been travelling in Japan and tried a lot of their spirits and it with that in mind I scored this rum. The nose starts off with whisky and sake, yes, sake. Then the vegetal and grassy notes appear with some oak and caramel. The palate is light yet complex with sake and Agricole notes. Later you have sake and the vegetal notes mixed with smoke and oak. The finish is medium long with sake and vegetal notes to it. The price is high for such a young rum, but nothing from Japan is cheap. "
Gran Reserva Solera 23 Años
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"They have added this big brother to the 15 year old and it's much better. They're still not there yet though they hav managed to make this one heavier in the taste. I think the idea with this version was to try and challenge Zacapa and El Dorado, but they still have some way to go. For the price though, this is a good rum. "
Ron Zacapa Edición Negra
Top review from Tim :
"Very similar to the normal Zacapa on the nose (caramel, fruit), except that smoky and toasty flavors are more represented. In the mouth, the smoke and tobacco then comes through very strongly, which is why drinking becomes a spicy experience. Must like, I do not find it all too good. Price much too expensive! Positive to mention are in any case the chocolate and roasted flavors, which are very pleasant in combination with caramel."
15 Years Black River Casks
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This new release is more on the roasted side than the other ones. Lightly fruity with vanilla and wonderful caramel. On the palate there is wonderful roasted wood and I find it nice and round with and oily feel on the tongue. Price to quality is very good in my mind."
Doorly‘s 12 Years
Top review from cigares :
"A rum tasted at the Lucerne Gin and Rum Festival 2024. A nose of marzipan and spices with coconut and wood. Toasted hazelnuts appear on the palate, along with dried and yellow fruits. The finish is rather short, with bitterness, wood and spices. I like it less than the XO, as the wood is more pronounced."
White Overproof
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"One of the epic rum mixers, that was used by Victor Bergeron when he created Mai Tai back in 1944. The nose is mostly fruity and spicy. At the palate the fruitiness dominates with flavors of citrus, banana and pineapple. The finish has a certain sweetness and a long spiciness."
Arcane Extraroma Grand Amber
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Much too sweet for me and nothing I can recommend. Aromas of caramel, vanilla and spices is recognizable. At the palate it’s very sweet with flavors of fruits, banana, ginger, caramel and vanilla together with a certain roundness."
Jamaica XO
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"The Navy Island Jamaican Rum XO is a blend of pot and column still rums from Worthy Park, Hampden and Moneymusk. The rum is named after Navy Island, a small tropical island near the coast of Jamaica once owned by Errol Flynn. It’s matured in ex bourbon casks and bottled at just 40% ABV."
Black Tot Rum Master Blender’s Reserve 2021
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"06.10.2023 retasting between 2021 - 2022 - 2023 and it lost a few points. ------ What a wonderful rum. The base should be the same as the 50th anniversary but this one is more fruity and there are more esters in comparison. A great rum and the quality to price is very good. I was so lucky that they allowed me to buy two bottles :-) Enjoying this nice rum again and I stand by my score. Very good rum especially thinking about the price tag. Retasting this one today and I really like it. Good that I have several backup bottles."
Eclipse
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This is one of the rums I have probably had the most of over time. A rum developed in 1911 and used in many mixers, which is where i learned about it in my teens way back. Not a super good sipper when you're used to the better Barbadian rums, but a very good choice in mixers. Have many memories both good and bad about this rum 🤣 Many a hangover have been traced back to this particular rum."
Rammstein Rum
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"This is the third Rock Band rum I’ve tasted, after Motörhead and Kizz, and the best one so far. The Rum, bottled by Danish 1423, is aged for up to twelve years in former bourbon barrels and bottled at ABV 40%. It’s a blend of rum from Jamaica, Guyana and Trinidad. By using pot still rum from Jamaica and Guyana and column still rum from Trinidad they’ve built up a well balanced rum with a strong aroma and a lot of character. The aroma, the taste and the quite long finish is strong and full-bodied. I recognize fruits, pepper, some burnt tones as well as some oak."
Épices Créoles
Top review from Rowald Sweet Empire:
"From the Days of Rum 2023 box. Start out with all the oranges. Very fruity. Vanilla. Cool and unexpected start. Let dig in- Taste: more oranges. Quite bitter too. Ginger. Pretty intense for its 46%. Did somebody dropped some fanta and tonic in the cask? Interesting vibe for an agricole. Outspoken. Not really balanced. Part of a series. Had the Fumee which is lighter but better balanced. Fun drop though."
Centenario Fundación 25 Años Gran Reserva
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This is a medium priced rum and they did pretty well. A very flavourful rum with lots of wooden notes and fruit. Not too sweet, but nicely balanced and medium complexity. Price to quality is very good. "
8 Años
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"The nose is nice, it’s easy to drink and a rather short finish goes the same way as at the palate. It’s very unclear where this rum is distilled, cause they don’t have any stills at the Hacienda Coloma so they are probably just aging, blending and bottling it. In the end of the aging they finish it in former Coloma Coffee Liqueur barrels."
Dictador XO Insolent / Platinum
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Had a very nice Dictador tasting this Sunday and this is the fourth one of the six. Another great surprise beating the Perpetual by one point. This rum is almost perfectly balanced in the spice and sweetness and a pretty complex one as well. Like pure silk when it passes down your throat. Price to quality is very good on this one as well. "
HSE Réserve Spéciale VSOP
Top review from Tim :
"This VSOP from HSE is also good: more discreet nose with chocolate, wood and caramelized fruit. In the mouth, the woody profile continues, adding spicy and earthy notes. Roasty coffee and chocolate on the finish to wood and spice and some sweet caramel."
Zafra Master Reserve 21
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"A wonderful balanced nose a bit woody with vanilla. Leave it for 15 minutes and the flavours come running at you even without putting your nose to the glass. The palate shows a well rounded full body rum with an extremely long finish. Leaving the glass after you finish will reveal a wonderful woody/spice nose."
Añejo Superior 5 Years
Top review from Decky Hicks Doughty:
"A very woody nose with lots of spice. There's some grape and exotic fruits buried underneath it all. Sharp. A quite sweet palate. Brioche buns with a touch of cinnamon and oak. Less fruity and spiced than the nose would suggest. Also more rounded. The finish is short. A flash of ginger and softer wood notes. It's not going to blow anybody away but it's not unpleasant."
Diplomático / Botucal Ambassador Selection
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"This is the best Diplomatico there is out there. The Single Vintages is also OK but can’t really compete, but I don’t think it’s really living up to the high price, but still a must have at my Spanish shelf. Picture: My Diplomatico shelf by moment."
5 Stars 8 Years Réserve Spéciale
Top review from cigares :
"A rum tasted at the Lucerne Gin and Rum Festival 2024. A nose of bitter root, like gentian, but also sugar, yellow fruit and a herbaceous side. The palate is very bitter and alcoholic, a gentian spirit? But also with a sweet/honey side. The finish is short, leaving only bitterness in the mouth. To the untrained eye, you'd think it was a slightly sweet root liqueur rather than a rum. That said, it's pleasant on the palate and well made. I like it less than the 4-year-old."
XO 175 Anniversary Rum
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This is definitely a rum for the fan base of A. H. Riise. Sweet like the usual rums from this company. The nose is sweet and fruity with a tad of smoke and mint. The palate is very sweet and the fruitiness continues from the nose. Creamy charred mint and vanilla. The finish is short to medium long and sweet with orange and oak. A tad too sweet for me but it will probebly have a huge fan base out there. "
Finest Barbados Rum
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"One of the best Bajan standard rums to a very competitive price in a spectacular bottle. The nose is subtle and round with aromas of fruits and vanilla. At the palate it’s delicious, fruity and spicy with flavors of tropical fruits, vanilla and cinnamon."
Panama 10 Years 2015
Top review from TheRhumhoe:
Rum-Bar White Overproof
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"This is a pure pot stills rum consisting of a blend of WPEL, WPL and WPE rum from the Worthy Park distillery. The finish is just medium long and shorter than for the other white Jamaican Overproof’s. Overall it’s also the most pungent of the big Jamaican three."
New Grove Emotion
Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"It is rare, far too rare, to discover a diamond among pebbles. And if it happens by chance, it's all the more incredible. But it actually happened with this rum! I'm still blown away. The rum already promises a lot on the nose and reminds me of an old Demerara. So tempting that I can't wait to taste it. Very fruity on the palate, overripe blackcurrants? The alcohol is more perfectly integrated than I have ever experienced with any other rum. The maximum has really been extracted from the 47% vol. The only small drawback: a slight lack of depth and intensity due to the low ABV. But such a small "impurity" is easy to get over with such a fine diamond, isn't it? Top rum under the radar. Update 2023-10-06: The rum remains a top product for me, but has found its champion in the Savoir Faire 2009 with 60% (RX2744). Update 2023-10-18: Tasting again against the RX2744, this time direct. And I have to say that a direct comparison is really enlightening - and doesn't end well for the Emotion 1969 ... It seems like the league leader of the 2nd division playing at the top level in its class against a Champions League team ... 🙄 Try it out and you'll find it confirmed. RumX Advent calendar 09.12.2023 (blind tasting) I wrote in the appropriate place before solving the puzzle: Yes, on the nose I'm also more with FS, although what's amazing here is that you really perceive zero alcohol! A completely different rum on the palate: Not warm-caramel like on the nose, but clearly red-fruity and a little spicy. And what do I always associate with red fruit? That's right, Mauritius! Since this rum is not an alcohol monster, but rather under 50% vol. I'm guessing RX2495. Of course, it could also be another New Grove from Grays with around 45% vol. as there are still a few around ... Or maybe even a TDL. In any case, I like the rum very much. :yum::yum::yum:"
Original Admiralty (Blue Label)
Top review from Mirko Frosini 🇮🇪:
"Very distinctive rum. I cannot say it is a good rum, but it is full of curious olfactory surprises. In my opinion it renders better in the nose than in the mouth. Many nuances on the nose, coffee and well-roasted caramel predominate on the palate with a faint woody note. Medium finish with coffee predominating. The banana that I felt lightly on the nose disappeared on the palate. Fun rum for an out-of-the-box tasting."
Relicario Superior
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This rum is kind of thin/flat and lacks complexity, but I think it's a good beginner rum. The nose is fruity with oak and vanilla. The palate is fruity and the finish in whisky barrels is clear in the taste. The oak is present and so is smoke and vanilla. The finish is medium and spicy with oak/smoke. "
Malteco 10 Years - Añejo Suave
Top review from Rumpalumpa:
"I really like Panama Rum and its typical roasted flavour. It is very present in this Rum, which is also rather sweet. Those flavors are actually even much stronger here than in the 15 yo, which is more fruity and smooth though. Value for money is amazing, also great for cocktails."
Select Jamaica Rum
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall an OK Jamaican rum but that lacks the expected funkiness, probably because of the low ABV. I tasted it at the 1423 stand during the Stockholm Beer & Spirits Fair 2023. This Jamaican rum is a blend of copper pot distilled molasses based rums that have been aged between 4 and 12 years in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels."
Dos Maderas Seleccion
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"What bothers me about this rum is the sweetness which dominates far too much. I'd say the 5+5 is better in comparison. The nose is smoky sherry with barrel to it. The palate is sweet, too sweet in my mind, a bit dry with fruit and spices. The finish is rather short with sticky sweetness and barrel topped with a bot of licorice. Too sweet for me."
Kaniché Double Wood XO
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This is not your typical Barbadian rum because some of the flavours you usually associate with Barbados are missing. A wonderful rum none the less especially if you look at the price. The bottle comes in a nice wooden box with a sliding front which is pretty fancy for a rum in this price range. The nose is sweet and oaky transferring into a soft well rounded palate that has a bit of cognac to it. Price to quality is very good. "

"Verkostet auf der Kirsch Cruise 2024. Für mich ein eher schwächerer aus der Bally Linie. Schön ihn doch mal probieren zu können, aber überzeugt hat er mich leider nicht. Da gibt es weit aus bessere die ich bis dato im Glas hatte. Für mich eher ein "Einsteiger Rum""
Don Papa Sherry Cask
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This is a rum which was finished in 5 different casks. First finish is done in American oak bourbon casks and then 18 months in 4 different sherry casks; Fino, Pedro Ximinez, Cream and Palo Cortado. A very nice long velvety finish. "
Caribbean Rum
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Got a 5cl sample of this rum from RR Tasting Club. The name Duppy Share comes from the Duppies which is a ghost taking the best part of rum around the Caribbean islands and is the same thing as Angels Share that is the “phenomenon” originally from Scotland. It’s a blend of 3yo pot still rum from the Worthy Park Distillery and 5yo column still rum from the Foursquare Distillery. Overall a recommendable rum especially when taking the price into account."

"It’s much too sweet for my taste and without the complexity and balance that my favorites among the sweet Spanish styled have. The nose is dominated by vanilla and sugar as it is at the palate together with toffee."
Papalin Réunion
Top review from Rodolphe:
"I wasn't a fan of the Papalin range until now. But La Velier has come up with a very good Reunionese at a nice price. It's a perfect representation of the rhums trad found there, with the fruity side of the grand aroma, present but not overpowering. It drinks well, is pleasant, vegetal, floral, woody and fruity. A great success. In the end, it's what I expected from savanna's Le Must, which doesn't emphasize the fruitiness of the grand arôme enough. This is the case here."
Fumée Volcanique
Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"A wood-aged rum for cocktails. The barrels in which this cuvée rests have been tampered with, immediately bringing out the empyreumatic notes on the nose. The smokiness, even burnt, of the barrels comes through, as do marshmallow, caramel and toasted almonds. Spices combine with empyreumatic notes to mark a relatively youthful profile. Tropical fruits, including coconut, take pride of place in this promisingly aromatic nose. On the palate, smoky, spicy notes dominate without moderation. Burnt sweetness, vanilla, nuts and a touch of alcohol (Armagnac) make up the bulk of the profile. Fruit is much more in the background. A more concentrated, simplistic profile on the palate. The rather brief finish blends woody, spicy and empyreumatic notes with more grassy and agricultural ones. A certain bitterness emanates on the finish. If the nose announced something innovative, the rest of the profile remains more summary and limited by the low degree and rather succinct aging. A more mature cuvée with this type of profile might be interesting. Nevertheless, this remains a good rum, particularly for bars and cocktails, to which it will add character."
Abuelo XV Tawny
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This is one of the 3 releases of the XV and it's pretty good actually. The nose starts off with a lot of caramel, in a good way, then goes into candied fruits wit some oakiness to it. The palate continues with the fruits and some leather and spices. The Port cask is definitely there and I like it. The finish is medium to long, astringent with vanilla and sweetness to it. Price to quality is good. "
Flor de Caña 7 Años Gran Reserva
Top review from Christian Rudt:
"Flasche hatte mein Bruder im Regal nie probiert also Bitte. Finde die Nase noch am besten hier geht gut Richtung Cognac. Am Gaumen vorwiegend Rum Rosine und etwas dünner Geschmack. Für ne Rum Cola sicher nutzbar."
Villa Rica Single Barrel Rum
Top review from Artur Schönhütte:
"This one is kind of bad. Not really an exciting entry from Mexico. In core this remind some of bad south american rums. This would be unspectacular. But this one's has the burn and taste of artificial sweetener. This really takes about 15 points off I would assume..."
No. 4
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"It’s a very young Agricole. The short aging in ex Armagnac barrels is made in Toulouse, France. The aroma is quite nice, then it’s sharp at first in mouth, but after a while the tastes becomes more like the aroma and stays so during the rather long finish."
Ron Esclavo XO 23 Años
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Much too sweet for me! At the nose it’s round with aromas of vanilla, caramel and cocoa. At the palate and during the medium long finish it’s sweet and round with flavors of vanilla, caramel and chocolate."
Jamaica XO Extra Old
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"25.05.2019 Sitting at home enjoying some nice samples. Notes Light in colour. Nose Intense, ester, fruity, banana, overripe, light mineral, vanilla, light roasted wood,. Palate Round, spicy, medium dry, fruity, banana, ester, light caramel. Finish Medium long, fruity, warm, light caramel."
Myers‘s Original Dark
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Bought me some bottles cause I couldn’t find Goslings to a competitive price cause I needed some dark rum to make Dark ‘N’ Stormys during the quite short Swedish summer. Tasted it first neat against Goslings Black Seal. Myers’s was then a clear winner because of nose and finish. When making the Dark ‘N’ Stormy contest I think it’s up to one and each of us to decide. When using Myers’s you get much more rum feeling mostly because of the finish. I prefer Myers’s but Goslings is also great so I think it’s all about personal opinion and taste."
Angostura Trinidad
Top review from crazyforgoodbooze:
"Relatively wild & dirty with so much glue/petrol. Very unusual for a Trinidad. Mint, caramel syrup, dried fruit and lots of spices on the palate. But it's not really harmonious. Too sweet and at the same time too "dirty"."
El Dorado Rare Collection PM
Top review from Zucker und Zeste:
"Needs some time in the glass but then shows multilayered flavors that come together, I think, very elegant. He has quite a lot of force to which you have to get used briefly. Unusually, I find the quite present saltiness. A few drops of water I also find not wrong."
Guetemala Gran Reserva 2018
Top review from Mirko Frosini 🇮🇪:
"Pleasant, fairly sweet rum with a strong molasses and citrus aroma. For a rum made to please novices, it is produced with skill and commitment. It is a distillate that can be useful as a stepping stone to more complex rums."
Cuatro Añejo 4
Top review from Master P:
"Leicht, Honig & Vanille, helles Holz und etwas Aprikose in der Nase. Für das Alter und einen Bacardi sehr rund. Im Mund bekommt er seine pfeffrige Kante, bleibt aber schön ausgewogen - aber halt leider recht dünn und charakterlos. Klasse Zeug für Cocktails die sonst weißen Rum brauchen. Genau dafür taugt er, und das gut. Für Cuba Libre ok"
American Oak Aged Rum
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:

Palate Light wood, faint smoke, ester, spice, fruity, light coconut, light floral. Palate Light, light wood, ester, light citrus, faint coconut, spice, light ginger, naturally sweet. Finish Medium long, light, naturally sweet, light spicy, fruits, light citrus, faint floral."
Flor de Caña 25 Años
Top review from cigares :
"A rather expensive rum for its quality, rather good, but it lacks a lot of things, depth of flavour, length, a higher ABV. Can't convince me. Tasted again and it's better than I remember, but clearly lacks watts."
English Harbour Port Cask Finish (Batch 002)
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"The tasted one is from batch 002. Have also a bottle from batch 001, but haven’t tasted it yet. My guide during my visit at the distillery told me that they’re most pleased with the Port Cask Finish, of the three, in batch 002. I’ll drink to that! It has a fantastic nose and the taste is very distinct with great flavors and a very pleasant finish."
Clément XO
Top review from Martin Ekrt:
"I almost forgot the cast sample before disposing of the bottle. Very fine aroma of fruit, apple, nutmeg. The taste is also more subtle. Again, apple, peanuts and bergamot tea, cognac. Similar finish. A very fine rum for easy sipping."
Jamaica Navy Strength
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"This Jamaican pot still rum at ABV 57% is a blend of distillates from Hampden, Worthy Park and Monymusk. It’s aged in former bourbon barrels. The color is deep amber with a little help from added color otherwise there’s no flavoring additives. The finish is rather long and it’s very dry in the very end. Overall a well balanced full bodied Jamaican rum without being extremely heavy with taste of esters."
Gran Reserva Diez Aged 10 Years
Top review from Vincent D:
"Goûté après un 4 ans et un 8 ans de la même maison. Celui-ci est indiscutablement le meilleur et le seul à se rapprocher d'un rhum de dégustation. Le boisé est présent tout au long de la dégustation et amène du corps à un rhum doux et sucré. Finale étonnement longue et plus sombre. Pas mal."
Dictador XO Perpetual / Aurum
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Had a very nice Dictador tasting this Sunday and this is the first third of the six. This was a really nice surprise. A much netter rum than I expected, a nice complex rum with a hint of vanilla in the back. Very well balanced and a delight. Sweet but not too sweet unless you like dry or Agricole style rums. Price to quality is very good. "
Guatemala XO 20th Anniversary Edition
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Retasting at Romdeluxe. Had a relaxing online tasting yesterday and it had a vide spread between low and high end rums. A very well balanced rum. Price to quality is very good."
Bellamy‘s Reserve MDR
Top review from crazyforgoodbooze:
