Plantation Extra Old XO 20th Anniversary
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Delicious and a lot of tropical fruit. Vanilla is coming through in this one and it sticks for a while.A super rum to sit and sip with your friends.A very good beginners rum in my mind,"
Bumbu The Original
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This is definitely a good rum for beginners. A bit too sweet for me, but still nicely balanced and an easy sipper. The nose is sweet with vanilla and chocolate. The palate is sweet and fruity with spices and caramel. Kind of a smooth rum. The finish is medium and sweet with vanilla. "
Dos Maderas 5 Years + 5 Years PX
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Retaste this one and it's a very mild well rounded rum that I think can be used for beginners as well. Draws very nice curtains and the empty glass is full of flavours."
Black Tot Rum
Top review from Mirko Frosini 🇮🇪:
"It did not impress me at all. Disappointing. Too much alcohol and anonymous aromas. It remains a pleasant after-meal rum, but uninteresting for tasting at a certain level. I expected more from a well reviewed rum...I probably failed to understand it."
Doorly‘s 14 Years
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"The nose on this rum is really nice and it may remind you of some of the Last Ward rums, not as complex but very well balanced. The palate has been perfectly rounded with the perfect proof. So no alcohol dominance but a perfect balance. The orange really shines through and the price to quality is very good. "
Flor de Caña 12 Años
Top review from Leo Tomczak:
"Tangy hazelnut liqueur with a slightly burning finish. Certainly sweetened, colored and flavored to spice up the neutral alcohol. Let's see how it performs in cola. It performs as expected in cola, although there's not much you can do wrong. Therefore a slight upgrade to 30. Nice and unobtrusive with ginger beer."
Centenario Fundación 20 Años Reserva Especial
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"I think this is a very under rated rum. It's in the cheaper end yet its complexity is very convincing. A wonderful sweet, fruity and spice nose going into a complex well balanced heavy palate. The finish is long, a bit sweet and has a nice peppery sting to it. Price to quality is very good. "
Gunpowder Proof (Black Label)
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"It’s possible to find the Gunpowder Proof in three different blends. The oldest one consists of rum from Guyana, Trinidad and Barbados. After that it came with a blend of Guyana and Trinidad rum. The latest one just consists of different rum from Guyana. The one I review here is the latest one. I think it’s quite complex with a good balance between sweetness and dryness."
1888 Doblemente Añejado
Top review from Tim :
"The good thing about this rum is that it has not been excessively sugared, like many other rums from this category. However, it is not particularly praiseworthy at first sight because of the alcoholic note, but if you give it a little time, you get a wonderfully woody sherry nose. In addition, caramel and some fruit. In the mouth then even the dark flavors dominate, which makes this rum something special."
Plantation Barbados 5 Years
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Not as sweet as many of the other Plantation rums but still sweet enough that you get it on the nose. It's a light easy to drink rum that you can sip or use in a cocktail. It does lack complexity but you can't expect that from 5 years of aging. Price to quality is good."
Canerock
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Retasting this one and would have loved to try it at a higher ABV. Well price to quality is an absolute hammer. You get a lot for your money here. I was pleasantly surprised by this bottle. The nose is complex and well rounded with fruit, and spices trailed by chocolate, coffee and caramel. Try and leave the empty glass for a few hours and then whif it again :-) The palate is sweet and fruity with wood, spices and caramel. The finish is medium long and sweet with wood, spices and a light minty note."
Rum Fire
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"It’s a triple distilled pure pot stills HLCF rum which gives an ester level of 500-600. The finish is rather long and tastes about the same as on the palate. I think it’s the best of the three big white Overproof’s from Jamaica, it’s funky, potent, complex and powerful without being too pungent."
Pure Single Jamaican Rum Classic HLCF
Top review from Mirko Frosini 🇮🇪:
"Nice rum, but a little under compared to batch1. The presence of a slight solvent note I liked less and it is less intense. However, we are talking about finesse and personal taste. We are dealing with a rum that I would drink all the time! I do not understand all these new versions of Hampden Velier that I find little different from each other and especially pòco justified in terms of value for money. Velier lately is focusing too much on collectors with the result of making the bottles unobtainable already upon release and overpriced."
Pure Single Jamaican Rum OWH
Top review from zabo:
"Edit Edit: batch #1 is better than batch #2 Edit: it's also really good as a mixer. Simply a classic. Good price/performance ratio. Works wonderfully to enhance both cocktails and long drinks. For me, it's the best entry-level Hampden and always will be. That's why I had to upgrade it again."
Rivers Royal Grenadian Rum
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"The distillery founded in 1785, still produce their rum as it was done back in that time. The cane is crushed by a waterwheel driven mill. It’s wild fermented. They don’t use any temperature control and the double retort copper pot stills is heated with dried Bagasse. Finally it’s bottled straight from the stills. They use sugar cane juice instead of molasses, but it’s not an Agricole cause they use different methods. Overall it’s a funky rum rich on esters and congeners. It’s probably not for everyone, but I just love everything around it and I think it beats the Jamaican white Overproof’s."
Angostura 1919
Top review from Leo Tomczak:
"Amazingly good. Nose full of Trinidad. Very light taste, of course. I think it's only moderately suitable for beginners, as you'd expect something pleasantly sweet in this price segment. The TDL aromas come through well, almost herbal/tar. I am very positively surprised."
Abuelo XII Two Oaks
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Got this 5cl sample in my second batch from Rum Ratings Tasting Club and participated in the virtual tasting yesterday. The Abuelo XII Two Oaks is a 12yo rum stored in two different types of oak barrels. First on traditional Tennessee whiskey / bourbon casks during 11 years, and then a final storage on deep-fried casks of new American white oak. It’s produced from both molasses and sugar cane juice by Varela Hermanos. The sugar content is 24 gpl, so it’s sweet but not extremely sweet."
Great House (Distillery Edition 2023)
Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"Blind tasting 01.02.2024, 2nd rum of the evening Nose: But now Jamaica! Some kind of low ester, I would say. Palate: A little too sour for me, seems one-dimensional, but the alcohol is well integrated. But stick with Jamaica. An HGML? The Younger perhaps? Resolution: Wow, the latest GH, really? I would have expected more."
Gran Reserva Solera 23 Años
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"They have added this big brother to the 15 year old and it's much better. They're still not there yet though they hav managed to make this one heavier in the taste. I think the idea with this version was to try and challenge Zacapa and El Dorado, but they still have some way to go. For the price though, this is a good rum. "
Equiano
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Had a retest led by the co-founder Mr. Ian Burrell during the Pre-party to Sweden Rumfest at Cane Rum Society in Stockholm which confirmed my earlier review. The added picture is from the first test. ——————————————-Bought 2*3 cl of this rum, a blend from Mauritius (Gray’s) and Barbados (Foursquare). It’s good, but I expected more cause it’s Richard Seale and Ian Burrell that’s behind it. Overall I think it’s a quite great rum, but a little too weak. It’s unsweetened, but there are some sweetness so I think it maybe could be something for people who likes sweet rum that want to develop their rum drinking into less sweetened rum."
Planteray Cut and Dry Coconut Rum
Top review from RumTaTa:
"As soon as the rum is in the glass I think I have a plate full of fresh coconut macaroons in front of me, coconut ^3! On the palate there is a slightly grassy note but the coconut flavors continue to give full steam! The finish is surprisingly long and - surprise! - is dominated by coconut! For what it is, it's excellent and a great addition to pina coladas and other exotic cocktails!"
Black Tot Rum Master Blender’s Reserve 2022
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"06.10.2023 retasting between 2021 - 2022 - 2023 and it lost a few points. ------ Now we have 3 great Black Tot releases. The 50th Anniversary, Master Blender 2021 and Master Blender 2022 and I like them all. They're also scored pretty closely to each other by me. The releases are really close to each other so the day decides which one wins. I like the darkness of it with smoky wood and warm palate as well as the long finish. I was very surprised at the final result when sipping this one at the German Rum Fest and I will have a few bottles when accessible."
Le rhum vieux par Neisson
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Has my recommendation, it’s really great, but I have choose the XO for my rumbar from Neisson. Tasted this one out at the Baltic Sea at an Masterclass during a rum cruise with Birka Cruises. Lots of wood, vanilla and fruitiness in it."
Doorly‘s 12 Years
Top review from cigares :
"A rum tasted at the Lucerne Gin and Rum Festival 2024. A nose of marzipan and spices with coconut and wood. Toasted hazelnuts appear on the palate, along with dried and yellow fruits. The finish is rather short, with bitterness, wood and spices. I like it less than the XO, as the wood is more pronounced."
Le Rhum Par Neisson
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Bought this Rhum Neisson Blanc from Catawiki a few months ago. The distillery is owned by the Neisson family since its foundation in 1932. They uses fresh sugar cane juice from locally grown cane. After a quite long fermentation it’s distilled in a French Savalle column still installed 1938. Overall a great Agricole Blanc that’s very good neat, but a little weak in a Ti Punch."
Centenario Fundación 25 Años Gran Reserva
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This is a medium priced rum and they did pretty well. A very flavourful rum with lots of wooden notes and fruit. Not too sweet, but nicely balanced and medium complexity. Price to quality is very good. "
8 Años
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"The nose is nice, it’s easy to drink and a rather short finish goes the same way as at the palate. It’s very unclear where this rum is distilled, cause they don’t have any stills at the Hacienda Coloma so they are probably just aging, blending and bottling it. In the end of the aging they finish it in former Coloma Coffee Liqueur barrels."
Diplomático / Botucal Ambassador Selection
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"This is the best Diplomatico there is out there. The Single Vintages is also OK but can’t really compete, but I don’t think it’s really living up to the high price, but still a must have at my Spanish shelf. Picture: My Diplomatico shelf by moment."
New Grove Emotion
Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"It is rare, far too rare, to discover a diamond among pebbles. And if it happens by chance, it's all the more incredible. But it actually happened with this rum! I'm still blown away. The rum already promises a lot on the nose and reminds me of an old Demerara. So tempting that I can't wait to taste it. Very fruity on the palate, overripe blackcurrants? The alcohol is more perfectly integrated than I have ever experienced with any other rum. The maximum has really been extracted from the 47% vol. The only small drawback: a slight lack of depth and intensity due to the low ABV. But such a small "impurity" is easy to get over with such a fine diamond, isn't it? Top rum under the radar. Update 2023-10-06: The rum remains a top product for me, but has found its champion in the Savoir Faire 2009 with 60% (RX2744). Update 2023-10-18: Tasting again against the RX2744, this time direct. And I have to say that a direct comparison is really enlightening - and doesn't end well for the Emotion 1969 ... It seems like the league leader of the 2nd division playing at the top level in its class against a Champions League team ... 🙄 Try it out and you'll find it confirmed. RumX Advent calendar 09.12.2023 (blind tasting) I wrote in the appropriate place before solving the puzzle: Yes, on the nose I'm also more with FS, although what's amazing here is that you really perceive zero alcohol! A completely different rum on the palate: Not warm-caramel like on the nose, but clearly red-fruity and a little spicy. And what do I always associate with red fruit? That's right, Mauritius! Since this rum is not an alcohol monster, but rather under 50% vol. I'm guessing RX2495. Of course, it could also be another New Grove from Grays with around 45% vol. as there are still a few around ... Or maybe even a TDL. In any case, I like the rum very much. :yum::yum::yum:"
Pagos Sherry (Batch 2)
Top review from Galli33:
"I prefer the Pagos 2023 over the last years edition! This has more „Hampden“ power and the Sherry barrel is integrated much better (due the change of the barrels… maybe?) and the sherry stays more in the background like a faithful campanion and fit perfect with the Hampden flavours. Grilled pineapple meets sour cherries overwhelmed by esters 🤤🥃 The alcohol is very present, i would say typical for a young Hampden."
Cambridge STC❤️E
Top review from Oliver:
"Lots of marzipan and varnish on the nose. Incredibly intense and complex on the palate. Slightly acidic, spicy and fruity. The 18 years of tropical maturation produce an absolute top release. One of my highlights at Whisky Live Paris 2023."
Millonario 10 Anniversario Reserva
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"It’s much too sweet for my taste and without the complexity and balance that my favorites among the sweet Spanish styled have. The nose is dominated by vanilla and sugar as it is at the palate together with toffee."
Don Papa Sherry Cask
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This is a rum which was finished in 5 different casks. First finish is done in American oak bourbon casks and then 18 months in 4 different sherry casks; Fino, Pedro Ximinez, Cream and Palo Cortado. A very nice long velvety finish. "
Fruits des Pluies
Top review from Vincent D:
"Tasted initially at Rhum Fest 2023. Fresher and more lemony than the bottle from the other parcel. Very pleasant. Tasted again in the quiet and found it to be a very successful rum. A surprising sweetness accompanies a well-marked cane with a strong lemon note. Very fresh. A great success."
Papalin Réunion
Top review from Rodolphe:
"I wasn't a fan of the Papalin range until now. But La Velier has come up with a very good Reunionese at a nice price. It's a perfect representation of the rhums trad found there, with the fruity side of the grand aroma, present but not overpowering. It drinks well, is pleasant, vegetal, floral, woody and fruity. A great success. In the end, it's what I expected from savanna's Le Must, which doesn't emphasize the fruitiness of the grand arôme enough. This is the case here."
Abuelo XV Tawny
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This is one of the 3 releases of the XV and it's pretty good actually. The nose starts off with a lot of caramel, in a good way, then goes into candied fruits wit some oakiness to it. The palate continues with the fruits and some leather and spices. The Port cask is definitely there and I like it. The finish is medium to long, astringent with vanilla and sweetness to it. Price to quality is good. "
XO Rhum Vieux 12 Ans
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Good value for money. This Dillon was the one that made me increase my Dillon shelf. The nose is rather sharp with aromas of chocolate and hints of fruit, wood and spices. At the palate it’s complex, round, woody, sweet and smooth with flavors of chocolate, vanilla and coffee."
Bushfire
Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"A unique Mhoba thanks to its ageing in local wood, which gives it exceptional aromas. The nose offers real meaty notes: meat, bacon, smoky and roasted notes make us think of a Sunday barbecue. The woody notes are followed by esters for funkiness, sugar cane for vegetation and banana and dried fruit for fruitiness. An atypical profile that comes across quite well. On the palate, dark, empyreumatic notes take center stage. Esters, spices, dried fruits and salt share the little space on the palate crushed by the improvised barbecue. At the crossroads of funk, barbecue, heaviness and fermentation, this is a highly original profile. The finish, of decent length, leaves a sensation of burnt wood and smoky notes. Floral and sugarcane notes counterbalance the empyreumatic warmth. A rum to enjoy with a barbecue, of course."
LFT White
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall a very interesting rum from Foursquare which is partly reminiscent of white Jamaica rum and Rivers Antoine. My good friend Björn “Romsoffan” offered me a glass of this somehow different Foursquare at Foursquare Appreciation Day, released by Habitation Velier. It’s what Richard Seale call, a Long Fermentation Type (LFT). It’s a Pot Still from both molasses and cane juice with Esters 555 gr/hlpa, which is the same level as HLCF from Jamaica."
Black Edition Alligator
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Bought this Rhum from Catawiki to a very good price together with some other bottles. Karukera is produced by the Esperance distillery in Guadeloupe that also produces Longuetau. Karukera is the name the indigenous people called their island which means 'The island of beautiful waters'. It’s distilled in the distillery’s column still, but the details how it has been aged differs, some says for seven years in French bourbon and cognac barrels others says five years in new charred barrels. Maybe there are two different ones. Overall a super smooth and round Rhum that probably is a very good introduction to Rhum from Guadeloupe."
Abuelo XV Oloroso
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Got a sample of this in my second batch from Rum Ratings Tasting Club and participated in the virtual tasting yesterday. The Abuelo XV Oloroso is 15 years old and is first matured in American oak casks to be finished in Oloroso Sherry casks. Overall it’s very sweet, natural or not, read somewhere that a hydrometer test gave 44 gpl. The finish is medium long. "
Doorly’s 5 Years
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall an very OK everyday rum, especially when taking the price into account. The brand Doorly’s was founded by Martin Doorly & Company, but is nowadays owned and produced by Foursquare and Mr. Richard Seale. The 5yo is a single blended rum, a combination of column and pot still, aged in former bourbon casks whereafter it’s bottled without any dosage or additives at 40%."
Profil 107
Top review from Vincent D:
"Joli mix entre la canne encore très présente et les notes boisées et épicées. Le nez et la bouche sont assez semblables, sur la canne, le bois, la vanille. Le piment est vif et piquant. Agréable dégustation. C'est vraiment sympathique et évolutif pour un ESB."
Stade’s Rum JAWS Barbados
Top review from zabo:
"Edit: Tried it again in a freestyle tiki, it's definitely a lot better there, so it's been adjusted upwards a little. How should I start? Blindly, I wouldn't guess Barbados but Jamaica. Gives a nice ester taste. But what I personally find annoying is that I have such a sugar taste on my lips afterwards. Unfortunately, this makes it too sweet for me, more like a liqueur, spiced rum or definitely with dosage. Even though it's not supposed to have any dosage. Unfortunately, that breaks its neck, I probably had too high expectations."
Last Ward Barbados (Pure Single Rum)
Top review from DomM:
"Very nice on the nose. This feels very mature (in a positive way) with lots of wood, chocolate and hints of coconuts. Those notes are accompanied by lots of ripe and dried fruits and some herbs (a hint of menthol?). The fruit notes are rather intense making this the best MG nose I experienced so far. Lots of wood on the palate without being to dry or bitter. Dark choclate and some dried fruits show up to the party. Nice. This one needs quite some time to breath to fully open up but delivers a very nice MG expression."
Doorly’s 8 Years
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall a good everyday rum, especially when taking the price into account. The brand Doorly’s was founded in 1908 by Martin Doorly & Company, but is since 1992 owned and some years later produced by Foursquare and Mr. Richard Seale. The 8yo is a rather new bottling in the Doorly’s line-up that saw the light of day in 2016, in the beginning mentioned for the Australian market. It’s a single blended rum, a combination of column and pot still, aged in former bourbon casks of American oak whereafter it’s bottled without any dosage or additives at 40%."
Chairman’s Reserve Spiced Original
Top review from Lutz Lungershausen :
"The rich spice notes make it exciting and complex, but mask the rum character and push it somewhat in the direction of herbal liqueurs. Still: I like the fruity nose and the fresh, lively palate"
New Grove Old Tradition 10
Top review from cigares :
"Un rhum dégusté au Rhum Fest en 2024. Un nez avec des écorces d’agrumes, des fruits pas très mûrs, comme une amertume. Une bouche un peu monolithique sur les agrumes. La finale développe une petite acidité. Un rhum intéressant mais pas passionnant non plus."
Exceptional Cask Selection XXIV
Top review from Aussierumfan:
"Classic Foursquare! I am thoroughly enjoying this one, which has a lovely mouthfeel which is quite oily/creamy. It has quite a nose on it. On the palate I am getting coconut, vanilla, wood, and a natural sweetness in the background. I prefer this over the 2010 with a superior nose and mouthfeel."
Sampan Blanc Overproof
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"#4563 19.01.2024 Got a set of samples from a former colleague in Sweden and today I'll give them a go. My tastebuds are still hyper sensitive, which can be both good and bad. This one was a huge surprise. I have travelled in these areas and the quality of their alcohol has gone op significantly over the years. Fruity and floral on the nose with a touch of sake which surprised me a bit as I like sake. The palate is fresh and has some anise to it. The finish is medium long and equally fresh with a light medicinal note. The empty glass has some chocolate and faint tea notes."
Dos Maderas Luxus Double Crianza
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This is a step up from the 5+5 and in a good way. More complexity and a wonderful nose after resting for 15 minutes. There is something tropical about this nice rum. The nose sets off with vanilla and caramel followed by barrel and some orange. The palate is nicely balanced between the proof and spices/oak/barrel. Almond, chocolate and molasses follow and sweet, spice and sherry tops it off. The finish is medium long, warm and some spices."

"#4813 16.08.2024 Having a relaxing afternoon and evening with Joël from Switzerland. Nose Fresh, fruity, pineapple, light floral, faint honey, light wood. Palate Warm, fresh, light wood, fruity, overripe, light pineapple, lightly sweet, light ester, faint chocolate. Finish Long and warm, light wood, faint roasted, fruity, light banana, faint chocolate. The empty glass has a nice herbal touch as well as light mint."
English Harbour Reserve 10 Years
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"The molasses is bought from Dom.Rep. and Guyana. After distillation it’s aged in former bourbon barrels of American oak, which are charred, for between 10 and 25 years. To enhance the oak taste is a handful of oak chips added to each barrel. In my opinion is it a great rum that overall is very dry and oaky."

"Un rhum goûté au Lucerne Gin and Rum Festival 2024. Un nez d’agricole avec des herbes amères, un côté doux/sucré et des fruits jaunes. La bouche commence avec douceur, les arômes grandissent et l’alcool prend le dessus. La finale est courte avec du bois amer. Pas un rhum très intéressant, mais bien fait et agréable à boire."
Renegade
Top review from Galli33:
"This is my first ever rum from grenada! And this one is really special… I found some strange notes like medicinal, plastic, rubber, phenol, petrol reminds me on a Savanna HERR/Lontan, but it‘s also a bit on the dirty side (i wouldn‘t say caroni like). Those notes are overwhelmig all the other notes like wood, oak, herbal, floral, sugarcane, a bit fruity (citrus?!). All in all it‘s a special one, for sure, but a good one. The alcohol is integrated well and fits in perfect. I‘m still undecided, if I should order a bottle or not… 🤔😬"

"17.11.2023 Another retasting and I still think that price to quality is pretty good. ---------- #4116 First off, the price to quality is very good in my mind. A fruity rum with nice balance in wood and spices. The palate is warm, sweet and oily. There is a nice floral touch to the profile. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass is nice with some smoke and coconut."
Great House (Distillery Edition 2024)
Top review from zabo:
"Freshly opened and tasted both neat and as a CubaLibre. Personally, I don't find it one hundred percent convincing neat, as it's a little too aggressive on the palate. Perhaps it should have breathed longer. But it delivers all the better in CubaLibre. I'll probably have to give it more time again."
Blackwell Black Gold
Top review from Sam 🥃 :
"First Jamaican rum that I could taste. I find it good and very accessible considering its price. In spite of its 40%, I find the alcohol a bit too pronounced and I also regret the semi-opaque bottle. But it's a good start to discover Jamaican rums, with flavors, like coffee, chocolate, tobacco...I find the nose better than the mouth. The history of a rum is just as interesting as its aromatic palette, sometimes more. In the history of Blackwell, there is Bob Marley, James Bond, and Joy Spence the Master Blender of the Appleton Estate brand. It is interesting to note that by buying Blackwell rum a portion is donated to the Golden Eye Foundation in Oracabessa which acts in favor of the population and biodiversity of the bay. Nice anyway"

Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Retasting this one I admit that I would really have loved this rum to have a higher ABV because I think it would have greatly benefitted the rum. The nose is very fruity with burnt sugar and some grass to it (lile in a Jamaican rum). The palate is wonderful and has a bite on top of the fruity/spicy note. A lot of nice oak but not too much. The finish is long and slightly bitter with oak and ginger."
Rhum Blanc 62
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"This rum from the Esperance distillery, which also produces the Karukera brand, is produced from the blue and red canes of the estate. Fermented in a natural way, without any additives and then distilled on a traditional Savalle column whereafter it’s just slightly watered down with the offspring water from the Soufrière volcano before bottled at the estate. Overall an powerful Agricole that despite the high ABV is very smooth and quite mild. I’ve also tested it in a Ti Punch, and it was great. So I understand that it’s very popular locally in Guadeloupe."

Signature Blend #2
Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"A Blend combining Jamaican funkiness and Guyana sweetness. The nose is dominated by the Jamaican influence of tropical fruits and solvents, with some notes of freshness and spices. In contrast, Guyana takes over on the palate with its chocolate, spice and caramel notes. The finish is more smoky and toasted, but unfortunately too short. A Blend that lacks a bit of balance, power and complexity but with an interesting quality/price ratio."
Planteray Barbados High Ester WLP Foundation
Top review from Leo Krüper:
"Wow... Exciting. Reminds me a lot of unstored or short-stored DOKs or HGMLs from Hampden. But at 600 esters, we're still within a tolerable range. However, the rum doesn't offer much more character in its current state, which is not entirely surprising for WIRD. But I am sure that with further tropical ageing, a beautiful rum will emerge here. So I see the whole thing as a good basis."
Cœur de chauffe
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"This Saint James at ABV 60% made from cane juice is not distilled in an column still as most of their produced rum, instead it’s double distilled in copper pot stills. So because of that it’s an Agricole without being an AOC rum. It makes a good Ti Punch."
Réserve Spéciale Rhum Vieux Agricole

"Hard to describe. Reminds me somehow of sambuca or ouzo because of the licorice and anise / fennel notes. Overall rather sweet salty and slightly bitter. Alcohol is not particularly disturbing but the basic flavor is just not my thing. In ti punch then something like pear and fig comes to the fore, as well as salty peanuts. Quite nice but I do not have to have again."

"Distinctly coherent Agricole profile: wood, heavy sweetness of dried fruit, chocolate and nougat, plus subtle citrus notes as well as finely tared spicy notes, floral aromas and smokiness. Quite consistent from nose to finish, but very harmonious thanks to this very straightforwardness."
Penny Blue VSOP
Top review from Timo Groeger:
"Ist ganz ok der Penny Blue VSOP. Finde die Nase ist besser als der Gaumen. Nase: Schokolade, Vanille und auch Holz kommt durch. Am Gaumen dann ebenfalls Vanille und Holz, außerdem etwas Karamell. Finde ihn aber etwas zu alkoholisch."
Grande Réserve
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Bought three different Rivière du Mat, produced in Reunion, during my drive down to Spain. This is the third and last I open, a traditionnel Rhum Vieux. Haven’t found out the aging, but I estimate it to around 4 years. Overall a quite good rum that’s definitely better than the Ambre and the Royal Reserve because of its deeper character and longer finish."

"#4282 06.10.2023 Yet another One Time release that is doing pretty well. The price tag is really good compared to what you get. A medium light profile with nice fruit, caramel and light wood. The palate is spicy/warm with nice fruit. The finish is medium long and spicy with light dryness to it. The caramel in the profile is pretty nice. Draws nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some chocolate, nuts and very light marzipan."
Rhum Vieux BIO (LMDW) Batch 2
Top review from Galli33:
"This is a quite interesting rum! The nose is a mix of notes from fruit schnaps, sugarcane, hazelnut, citrus and almond. In mouth it’s very balanced and much fruiter, sweetier. The alcohol is integrated very well. Also the barrel stays in the background. The finish is long, dry and delicious. I would say, by far the best of this rum."
Études New Bacolet (Upper Combe)
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Tasted this interesting cane juice/Pot Still rum at Sweden Rumfest 2023. The Etudes is the second step in the Single Farm Origin development. The first step was totally unaged Pre Cask rum from different areas in Grenada. This is the distillate released 2021 as Pre Cask New Bacolet now aged for 18 months in first fill American Oak Casks and Premium French Oak Casks."
Plantation Jamaica (LMDW) ITP
Top review from Rodolphe:
"After the discovery of the live whisky, which had thrilled me, I took the time to taste it again this evening. I'm still very impressed. A great ITP, especially on the nose. I really love this nose. Superb balance between fruit, wood and a gourmand side. On the palate, the woodiness tends to be a little too present, through a little bitterness that quickly blurs the fruitier aromas of the beginning. Too bad, but it's still a great rum. Another very fine plantation release in the top-range Jamaican range, at a price that's not at all unreasonable today for 20 years of age."
Plantation Black Cask (Barbados & Venezuela)
Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"Plantation here delivers a simple, sweet and sugary experience, characterized on the nose by a strong concentration of burnt and charred notes, which are found in the woodiness (oak), sugar and spices (licorice). There are also banana and coconut aromas on a slightly medicinal background. A very gourmet profile. The palate is no exception, with its syrupy sweetness, mild spices (vanilla, cinnamon) and charred notes. You can feel that the cask has been worked to the extreme. It's not unpleasant, but rather primary and lacking in apparent depth. The alcohol is well integrated, attenuated by the sugar. The finish leaves little room for doubt as to the profile, which remains in the same vein as previously described: sweet, gently spicy and loaded with smokiness, there's that little hint of custard that lingers on the palate. An approachable rum for those new to rum."
Rhum Vieux Agricole
Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"A well-crafted, well-structured aged rum. The nose, with its minty, vegetal freshness, woody notes and dried and nutty fruits, is slightly lifted by sweet spices for a harmonious, pleasing whole. On the palate, the attack is darker, carried by wood, leather, spices and toasted, toasted notes. A touch of dried fruit and an agricultural, vegetal influence form the background. The result is a fairly dry rum with a nice roundness, easily approachable and gourmet. The finish, of decent length, displays the sweetness of cane and fruit, the dryness of wood and spices, and the roundness of floral notes. A very respectable entry-level rum offering a profile that's both easy-drinking and evolving."

"Tasted during the RumX masterclass. Huge thanks the guys from R&BT for presenting their range! Very nice exploration of some low(we) ester marks. While some of the noses were a little light, the long aged expressions are very interesting on the palate across the board. Very interesting! :) Round and pleasant low ester Clarendon."
Cuvée L‘Essentiel
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"This is an exceptional Rhum from Saint James. It’s a blend of the vintages of 1998, 2000 and 2003 all of them aged for over 12 years in small bourbon casks. I can really recommend it, even though the average price is a little high at around €180."

Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"Hmm, for a ten-year-old already quite expressive. Found the rum with its power and unobtrusive sweetness, which was felt especially in the finish, pure really not bad. In a cocktail probably a challenge.Must I try again on occasion."
Braud & Quennesson Rhum Blanc Agricole
Top review from cigares :
"Un rhum dégusté au Rhum Fest en 2024. Un beau nez avec tout ce qui fait le charme des agricoles, herbacé, citron vert et fraîcheur. La bouche est un peu moins bien et la finale est bien courte. Un rhum qui promettait plus au nez, mais malgré tout très bien fait."
Indlovu Bourbon & Brandy Casks (LMDW New Vibrations Collection)
Top review from cigares :
"A rum tasted at the WLP. Nose of glue/solvents with earth and fruit in the background. The palate is quite lively, with a violent, earthy woodiness, but soon evolves into sweetness, smoke, fat and licorice. The finish is long on licorice and wood, followed by tropical fruit. The empty glass is rich and complex, a very fine rum with great expressiveness."

"#4659 17.03.2024 Sitting at home relaxing a bit with some TV series running on the telly 😊 Nose Fresh, minerals, citrus, sugarcane, light mint, light vegetal, faint floral. Palate Round, sugarcane, spicy, medium dry, balanced, light floral, vegetal, citrus. Finish Medium to long, dry, citrus, spicy, light floral. The empty glass has some light nutty and faint rubber notes. I know this rum is meant for mixing but it makes a darn good sipper as well."
Papa Rouyo Sanblaj ESB
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"Sometimes you try something and you just think, OK, been there, done that and no more. This rum is one of those and I think this is a good beginners rum. The nose is fruity with pastries, floral, caramel, vanilla and nuts trailed by coffee and light barrel notes. The palate is sweet, light and fruity with spices, floral and caramel as well as a light toasted note. The finish is short to medium, sweet but diluted with dried fruit and vanilla."
Umbila Bourbon Cask (LMDW New Vibrations Collection)
Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"Gefällt mir von dem Gespann Umganu, Indlovu und Umbila am besten. Wer mit einem schönen, typischen Mhoba-Profil liebäugelt, aber die Ausgabe für drei Rums scheut oder den in Nase und am Gaumen wohlgefälligsten der drei haben möchte, sollte zum Umbila greifen. Die beiden anderen braucht man höchstens für einen Vergleich - und auch dafür reichen Samples vollkommen aus."
Flor de Caña 14 Años
Top review from RCR 🇫🇷:
"Au nez, c’est un rhum surprenant : très vif à la fois boisé et acidulé. Le goût n’est pas désagréable. Mais la finale laisse un goût terreux et lui aussi boisé. Ce n’est pas mon rhum favori. Mais c’est une expérience intéressante."
Papa Rouyo
Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"A young rum from the Papa Rouyo distillery (the island's most recent to date), Velier has followed up its previous edition to find a mix between the aromas of unaged rum and the influence of aging on them. The result is a blend of slightly sweet vesuvial aromas, herbal and vegetal notes that rub shoulders with spices and young oak, supported by exotic fruits and a hint of caramel. A profile at the crossroads, without being revolutionary. The attack on the palate is even stranger: cane serves as an introduction before a battle between floral and vegetal flavors, exotic fruit, spicy wood and medicinal, fermented scents. Although the profile is varied, the whole is a bit all over the place and lacks homogeneity. The alcohol could be better integrated. The finish, of decent length, gives a little freshness at first, before letting the spices take over. A touch of caramelized roundness completes the picture. The desire to showcase a rum at its various stages of evolution is understandable, but this version will be neither the most memorable, nor the least expensive, alas."
Umganu Brandy Cask (LMDW New Vibrations Collection)
Top review from Thunderbird:
"Und der Dritte im Bunde der Vibrations und der mit Abstand unharmonischste Rum. Die Nase hat einen säuerlich vergorenen Geruch, gepaart mit Honigsüße. Das ist eher unangenehm. Am Gaumen ist der Alkohol nicht sehr gut eingebunden und die Aromen (Ester, Gewürze,Süße) passen nicht zueinander…ne, dasist nichts"

Top review from Timo Groeger:
"Hat mich irgendwie enttäuscht dieser Rum. Hat eine würzige Note in Nase und Kaumen, hinzu kommt noch, dass er leicht süss ist. Schokolade, Karamell, Vanille und Kaffe sind herauszuschmecken. Hatte mehr erwartet von einem Jubiläumsrum."

"#4570 22.01.2024 Once again relaxing a bit at home. Sampling this rum while adding older tastings to the app. This is not a bad rum considering the price tag. The overall profile is well rounded but light. Nose Fresh and sweet, wood, light roasted, floral. Palate Medium oily, wood, light roasted, sweet, fruity, light caramel. Finish Medium long, sweet, wood, light caramel, faint smoky note. The empty glass has some light chocolate and fruitcake to it."
Sauternes Finish
Top review from Tim :
"Interessanter Geruch, noch nie gehabt zuvor.. viele süße Aromen und Früchte, aber inzwischen nehme ich eine deutliche Haselnuss/Nougat/Milchschokoladennote als dominant wahr. Mit etwas Fantasie kann man auch Joghurt riechen. Holzige und röstige Noten sucht man vergebens, dafür bekommt man ein (etwas zu) süßer Rum mit Nuss, Frucht und Wein. Recht komplex an der Nase und einzigartig!"

"#4562 19.01.2024 Got a set of samples from a former colleague in Sweden and today I'll give them a go. My tastebuds are still hyper sensitive, which can be both good and bad. Pretty well balanced release. The nose is really nice and fruity with some floral and herbal notes. The palate is oily and medium intense yet well balanced. There is light licorice and faint smoke on the palate as well. The finish is medium long, medium dry and fresh with a vegetal touch. The empty glass has some anise and light tea. Price to quality is very good."

Finish Long and warm, light fruits, citrus, light sugarcane, spicy, The empty glass has a perfume like not to it as well as chocolate."
Rum Jamaica (Flag Series) EMB
Top review from DomM:
"Nose starts of rather harsh but with some time to breath develops a nice basket of continental fruits, intermingling with some classic „Clarendon herbs“, spices and notes of glue. I‘d be interested to get some info on continental vs. tropical aging on this one. For me the nose displays a continent Clarendon profile at least 🤔 On the palate better balanced then I‘ve expected. Citrus notes, vanilla, some wood and sweetness. Lemon macarons! Best out of the 2010 EMBs so far for me."

Top review from Jakob:
"Classic Belize: Pronounced pleasing and quaffable, but the rum is somewhat lacking in aromatic complexity. In addition to the sweetness of vanilla, toffee, chocolate still get a few hints of cappuccino and peanuts and leicjte spiciness in the taste spectrum. Very good alcohol integration."

Top review from Godspeed:
"Another bottle that I finished a while back now and forgot to review. A bomb of Xmas spices, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, and I mean a lot of them. Quite intense in flavor. Perhaps a little too much towards the dry spicy side of things at the end of the day. I enjoyed the bottle and do not regret my purchase but not something that plays on my mind some months after finishing it, hence the forgotten review!"

"#4849 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Medium intense, light wood, light fruits, light floral, vegetal, light medicinal, light nutts, faint chocolate. Palate Oily, light, light wood, faint roasted, faint chocolate, light floral, light vegetal, herbal, fruits, light dried fruit. Finish Medium long, light wood, dried fruits, light vegetal, spice, light herbal, light nutts. This one was a big disappointment and there are many far cheaper Saint James out there that can compete with this release."
Sampan Blanc
Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"Compared to the 54% version, this Sampan is no slouch. While the nose seems fairly versatile, with spices, fruit (notably citrus and lime), floral and vegetal notes, the palate is much more biting and warm. Despite a slight roundness, the extra degrees are felt on the palate, leaving a strong impression of spiciness on the finish. A powerful rum, slightly less balanced than its 54% predecessor."

"Dégustation chez J. B. Labat. Un nez léger sur la boîte à cigares (cèdre et tabac) des herbes et un côté terreux. La bouche est trop acqueuse, toujours les notes de boîte à cigares, désherbes macérés et un côté racines/terreux. La finale est bien trop courte."
Hidden Spirits (LMDW)
Top review from Joachim Guger:
"Spirituosenzirkus 24.05.2024 im Haus der Musik. Sample. Interessante Nase.
Rum Barbados (Flag Series)
Top review from zabo:

"First Tasting of this bottle (will update this review later with more details) in the new home, surrounded by boxes and the general disarray after moving in. 60 percent approval only? This is not the best Demerara I've tasted, but it does not deserve a rating this low... The first Impression had been mixed, onwards to session three. This rum really needs to breathe in order to bring its flavors, and then does something surprising: besides strong woody notes, being very dry and herbal impressions one gets also some funk and esters, that are quite unexpected. Unfortunately the alcohol has quite a bite and thus reduces the overall score quite a bit. Had the integration alcohol and wood been a bit better this would be quite good, but it is not and thus only 76 points."
