Ron Zacapa Solera Centenario 23

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"This is a very well balanced rum from Zacapa and I like is a lot especially considering the price tag. The nose is heavy with spice and sweetness and a touch of orange zest and chocolate. The palate is well rounded with caramel, honey and chocolate topped of with burnt oak and overripe fruits. It has a long, sweet and fruity finish with burnt oak. I'd say this one is better than the bottling from the late 90s and early 00s that won medals. Price to quality is very good. "
Doorlyâs 14 Years

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"The nose on this rum is really nice and it may remind you of some of the Last Ward rums, not as complex but very well balanced. The palate has been perfectly rounded with the perfect proof. So no alcohol dominance but a perfect balance. The orange really shines through and the price to quality is very good. "
Ron Zacapa Centenario XO Solera (3. Edition)

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"This nice sipper has to rest for a while before nosing or you'll get a punch of alcoholic blast. The nose is wonderfully smooth even velvety I'd say. Smoky wood and fruity with toffee and spices. The palate is complex and very well balanced with smoky oak and spices and a hint of the cognac cask it was finished in. The finish is long and sweet with spices and coffee and once again a hint of the cognac cask."
XO

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"The taste is less aggressive than many other Agricoleâs. I would even say that itâs rather mild at same time that itâs very elegant. A perfect entrance to the Agricole world. The aromas and flavors is fruity, spicy and woody with citrus, pepper, cinnamon and oak clearly recognizable."
Single Estate Reserve

Top review from Mirko Frosini đźđȘ:
"Interesting rum mainly because I found it an unusual Jamaican because of some of the fruity notes. As the mere novice that I am, at a blind tasting, I would have mistaken it for an agricultural. Very light toastiness. Medium-long finish with a prevalence of lychee."
Rum Fire

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Itâs a triple distilled pure pot stills HLCF rum which gives an ester level of 500-600. The finish is rather long and tastes about the same as on the palate. I think itâs the best of the three big white Overproofâs from Jamaica, itâs funky, potent, complex and powerful without being too pungent."
Millonario Solera XO

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"Retasting this one as a dessert rum and it does well at that. This is a very sweet rum in my mind and you could use it for dessert actually. Again a solera blend of rums aging from 15 to 20 years."
Chairmanâs Reserve The Forgotten Casks

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Itâs distilled in Coffey and Pot stills and then first aged separately before blended and aged for three more years. Total aging is six to eleven years.I think itâs a little bit better than their classic Reserve. In the front of the mouth it doesnât taste very much, but when you swallow it all flavors arrive and stays there trough the rather long finish."
Pure Single Jamaican Rum Classic HLCF

Top review from Mirko Frosini đźđȘ:
"Nice rum, but a little under compared to batch1. The presence of a slight solvent note I liked less and it is less intense. However, we are talking about finesse and personal taste. We are dealing with a rum that I would drink all the time! I do not understand all these new versions of Hampden Velier that I find little different from each other and especially pĂČco justified in terms of value for money. Velier lately is focusing too much on collectors with the result of making the bottles unobtainable already upon release and overpriced."
Rare Casks 12 Years

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"This one is better than the regular 12 year old and a very nice surprise. I also like the shape of the bottle. Oak from nose to finish, very fresh with fruits and spices. This is a sipper and not a mixer. Price to quality is very good."
Lazy Dodo Single Estate

Top review from Gregor :
"Angenehmer Einsteiger. Viel dörrpflaume und auch andere trockenfrĂŒchte. Generell ein sehr schöner Holzeinfluss. Leider fĂŒr mich ein wenig zu viel sĂŒĂe. Ein sehr schöner Ăbergangsrum um von den total sĂŒĂen Einsteigern sich an die trockenen Varianten heranzutasten"
VSOP

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Just like the XO itâs more or less a perfect entry to a tour in the Agricole world. Tasted this one at a rum cruise when it was included at Ian Burrellâs âBlindtasteâ Master class. It was quite easy to get it right, cause it was the only Agricole included. The picture shows the included rums at the blindtaste."
Chairmanâs Reserve Legacy

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"Compared to the other releases from the Chairman's reserve I'd say this one is more refined and complex in the taste. A wonderful funky nose transcending into a wonderful complex palate with a spicy entry and a fruity touch to the end. The finish is long, deep and has complexity to it. This is a blend of 7.5 years John Dore, 7 years Vendome, 5.5 years Coffey RR104 and a 5 years John Dore. "
Rivers Royal Grenadian Rum

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"The distillery founded in 1785, still produce their rum as it was done back in that time. The cane is crushed by a waterwheel driven mill. Itâs wild fermented. They donât use any temperature control and the double retort copper pot stills is heated with dried Bagasse. Finally itâs bottled straight from the stills. They use sugar cane juice instead of molasses, but itâs not an Agricole cause they use different methods. Overall itâs a funky rum rich on esters and congeners. Itâs probably not for everyone, but I just love everything around it and I think it beats the Jamaican white Overproofâs."
Abuelo XII Two Oaks

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Got this 5cl sample in my second batch from Rum Ratings Tasting Club and participated in the virtual tasting yesterday. The Abuelo XII Two Oaks is a 12yo rum stored in two different types of oak barrels. First on traditional Tennessee whiskey / bourbon casks during 11 years, and then a final storage on deep-fried casks of new American white oak. Itâs produced from both molasses and sugar cane juice by Varela Hermanos. The sugar content is 24 gpl, so itâs sweet but not extremely sweet."
Cinabrio Ron 12 Años

Top review from crazyforgoodbooze:
"very nice play of orange peel, tangerine & toffee, clearly better than the old 12 cihuatan. apparently not only the design but also the recipe has been improved again here.đđœ overall, however, it is a bit woody and one-dimensional but nicely orangey. I find the indigo better in terms of plv."
Rhum Traditionnel Le Must

Top review from Galli33:
"Thanks to the RumX Team for this great opportunity!! Unfortunately, I missed the only tasting due a delayed flight⊠This one took the third place in my tasting, very fruity, with some nice notes of furniture waxes, bitter orange and honey. A really nice daily driver, without looling on the price tag!"
XO Grande RĂ©serve

Top review from Zucker und Zeste:
"A balanced and very well-balanced rhum with finesse and a very nice interplay of fruitiness and wood spice. The price is also fine for me. I am very positively surprised that the fruity notes make it to the palate so beautifully."
Ron Zacapa EdiciĂłn Negra

Top review from Tim :
"Very similar to the normal Zacapa on the nose (caramel, fruit), except that smoky and toasty flavors are more represented. In the mouth, the smoke and tobacco then comes through very strongly, which is why drinking becomes a spicy experience. Must like, I do not find it all too good. Price much too expensive! Positive to mention are in any case the chocolate and roasted flavors, which are very pleasant in combination with caramel."
15 Years Black River Casks

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"This new release is more on the roasted side than the other ones. Lightly fruity with vanilla and wonderful caramel. On the palate there is wonderful roasted wood and I find it nice and round with and oily feel on the tongue. Price to quality is very good in my mind."
White Overproof

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"One of the epic rum mixers, that was used by Victor Bergeron when he created Mai Tai back in 1944. The nose is mostly fruity and spicy. At the palate the fruitiness dominates with flavors of citrus, banana and pineapple. The finish has a certain sweetness and a long spiciness."
Clairin Communal Blend des Quatres Communes

Top review from Mirko Frosini đźđȘ:
"Nice white rum! Great to drink mixed and neat. Price under 30 euros make it a great choice! Less aggresive than the other clairins it is probably the most lovable along with Sajous."
Le rhum vieux par Neisson

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Has my recommendation, itâs really great, but I have choose the XO for my rumbar from Neisson. Tasted this one out at the Baltic Sea at an Masterclass during a rum cruise with Birka Cruises. Lots of wood, vanilla and fruitiness in it."
Ăpices CrĂ©oles

Top review from Rowald Sweet Empire:
"From the Days of Rum 2023 box. Start out with all the oranges. Very fruity. Vanilla. Cool and unexpected start. Let dig in- Taste: more oranges. Quite bitter too. Ginger. Pretty intense for its 46%. Did somebody dropped some fanta and tonic in the cask? Interesting vibe for an agricole. Outspoken. Not really balanced. Part of a series. Had the Fumee which is lighter but better balanced. Fun drop though."
Le Rhum Par Neisson

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Bought this Rhum Neisson Blanc from Catawiki a few months ago. The distillery is owned by the Neisson family since its foundation in 1932. They uses fresh sugar cane juice from locally grown cane. After a quite long fermentation itâs distilled in a French Savalle column still installed 1938. Overall a great Agricole Blanc thatâs very good neat, but a little weak in a Ti Punch."
Plein Soleil

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"26-27.01.2024 Hanse Spirits. Retasting this and I still thing this is a very good rum at the price tag. ------------------- This one was a huge surprise so I'll have to get a few for my tastings. Price to quality is very good and a must try for most. Try to add a piece of lime zest and the rum just comes to life. We tried a new unfinished version that was over 70% and it was even better. That one I'd be interested in as well đ"
New Grove Emotion

Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" đ€:
"It is rare, far too rare, to discover a diamond among pebbles. And if it happens by chance, it's all the more incredible. But it actually happened with this rum! I'm still blown away. The rum already promises a lot on the nose and reminds me of an old Demerara. So tempting that I can't wait to taste it. Very fruity on the palate, overripe blackcurrants? The alcohol is more perfectly integrated than I have ever experienced with any other rum. The maximum has really been extracted from the 47% vol. The only small drawback: a slight lack of depth and intensity due to the low ABV. But such a small "impurity" is easy to get over with such a fine diamond, isn't it? Top rum under the radar. Update 2023-10-06: The rum remains a top product for me, but has found its champion in the Savoir Faire 2009 with 60% (RX2744). Update 2023-10-18: Tasting again against the RX2744, this time direct. And I have to say that a direct comparison is really enlightening - and doesn't end well for the Emotion 1969 ... It seems like the league leader of the 2nd division playing at the top level in its class against a Champions League team ... đ Try it out and you'll find it confirmed. RumX Advent calendar 09.12.2023 (blind tasting) I wrote in the appropriate place before solving the puzzle: Yes, on the nose I'm also more with FS, although what's amazing here is that you really perceive zero alcohol! A completely different rum on the palate: Not warm-caramel like on the nose, but clearly red-fruity and a little spicy. And what do I always associate with red fruit? That's right, Mauritius! Since this rum is not an alcohol monster, but rather under 50% vol. I'm guessing RX2495. Of course, it could also be another New Grove from Grays with around 45% vol. as there are still a few around ... Or maybe even a TDL. In any case, I like the rum very much. :yum::yum::yum:"
Millonario 10 Anniversario Reserva

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Itâs much too sweet for my taste and without the complexity and balance that my favorites among the sweet Spanish styled have. The nose is dominated by vanilla and sugar as it is at the palate together with toffee."
Hearts Collection - 2002

Top review from Oliver:
"On the nose a great combination of fruits (cherry, apples, mango), citrus and sweet notes (caramel, vanilla). Quite dry on the palate with red fruits (cherries again) and spicy wood notes. Little esters, but a pronounced spiciness and creaminess. Great Jamaican rum with little funk but power."
Cambridge STCâ€ïžE

Top review from Oliver:
"Lots of marzipan and varnish on the nose. Incredibly intense and complex on the palate. Slightly acidic, spicy and fruity. The 18 years of tropical maturation produce an absolute top release. One of my highlights at Whisky Live Paris 2023."
Oaxaca

Top review from lukasdrinkinghabits:
"This rum has turned my drinking behavior upside down. Before that, I drank wine almost exclusively. This daiquiri opened up a new world for me. "Wild fermentation, freshcut grass" was on the menu at Gone Away Bar (RIPđȘ).It's mostly the fermented, savory, salty vegetal flavors that set this Cane Juice rum apart from the French agricoles. The nose is marked by savory antipasti: olives, artichokes, hot peppers. In addition, grass and tobacco. Fruit is there too: gooseberry and lime, but quite a bit behind. In the daiquiri it becomes a bit fruitier and fresher. The savory notes, however, remain and you have to like them. I like them.In the mouth it is soft but still quite unusual: olives, olives, olives. Brine, ginger with green peppers. Also the often described mezcal note.In the finish more olive, artichokes and brine.Pure is honestly too crass for me, but in the daiquiri he is gigantic."
Finest Barbados Rum Export Proof

Top review from Rumpalumpa:
"Classic Barbados rum with strong barrel notes. The nose does not reveal too much, but on the palate a lot of caramel and toffee. Long finish. Beautiful drop but less complex than expected"
Ron Quorhum 30 Aniversario

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Itâs one of the better ones from O& O, maybe because that Agricole has a part in the blend. The finish is quite long and dry. The nose is fruity, sweet and round with aroma of citrus. At the palate and during the rather long finish itâs fruity and round with a good balance between the sweetness and dryness together with flavors of vanilla, honey and citrus."
Fine Australian Rum

Top review from cigares :
"Rum and chocolate tasting by Rum Club Switzerland. A nose of tropical fruit (banana), citrus, varnished wood and sweetness (pastries). A floral note completes the nose. The palate has a fairly lively attack, with fruit and floral notes emerging later. The finish is long, with fruit and wood on the finish. Empty glass, fruit and wood varnish in harmony. A fine, lively, well-balanced rum. It lacks a little depth, but it's very well made and a pleasure to drink."

"Verkostet auf der Kirsch Cruise 2024. FĂŒr mich ein eher schwĂ€cherer aus der Bally Linie. Schön ihn doch mal probieren zu können, aber ĂŒberzeugt hat er mich leider nicht. Da gibt es weit aus bessere die ich bis dato im Glas hatte. FĂŒr mich eher ein "Einsteiger Rum""
VSOP

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Saint James VSOP is an AOC rum from pure cane juice made in a traditional Creole column. thatâs aged between 4 and 6 years. The nose is woody, spicy, sweet and fruity with aromas of oak, vanilla and dandelion. At the palate itâs woody and spicy with flavors of pepper, leather and honey. The finish is medium long, fruity and woody with flavors of oak and dried fruit."
Hors dâĂge Port Cask Finish

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall a very good Port Cask Finished Agricole that I tasted at the Sweden (Stockholm) Rumfest 2024. It has first been aged for at least 8 years whereafter itâs finished during 11 months in former Port Casks. At nose is oak, vanilla, chocolate and ripe fruits recognizable. In mouth and at the palate is flavors of oak, vanilla and chocolate detectable together with notes of port, hazelnut, dried fruits and cocoa. During the rather long finish is beside the above, notes of jasmine, coffee and plum found."
Fruits des Pluies

Top review from Vincent D:
"Tasted initially at Rhum Fest 2023. Fresher and more lemony than the bottle from the other parcel. Very pleasant. Tasted again in the quiet and found it to be a very successful rum. A surprising sweetness accompanies a well-marked cane with a strong lemon note. Very fresh. A great success."
Presidente Marti 23 Años

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"Retasting and leaving the original note đ This is a rum that will surprise most people bacause it's in the cheaper end but delivers none the less. A wonderful fruity nose with molasses, honey and caramel topped off with oak. The palate is nkvmcely balance d though not complex it still manages to be well rounded with fruit, caramel followed by coffee, chocolate and a squeeze of marzipan. The finish is medium long and mild with oak and fruits."
XO Rhum Vieux 12 Ans

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Good value for money. This Dillon was the one that made me increase my Dillon shelf. The nose is rather sharp with aromas of chocolate and hints of fruit, wood and spices. At the palate itâs complex, round, woody, sweet and smooth with flavors of chocolate, vanilla and coffee."
Bushfire

Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"A unique Mhoba thanks to its ageing in local wood, which gives it exceptional aromas. The nose offers real meaty notes: meat, bacon, smoky and roasted notes make us think of a Sunday barbecue. The woody notes are followed by esters for funkiness, sugar cane for vegetation and banana and dried fruit for fruitiness. An atypical profile that comes across quite well. On the palate, dark, empyreumatic notes take center stage. Esters, spices, dried fruits and salt share the little space on the palate crushed by the improvised barbecue. At the crossroads of funk, barbecue, heaviness and fermentation, this is a highly original profile. The finish, of decent length, leaves a sensation of burnt wood and smoky notes. Floral and sugarcane notes counterbalance the empyreumatic warmth. A rum to enjoy with a barbecue, of course."
Clément Cuvée HomÚre Clément

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"Enjoying this rum yet again and I still love it. This is one of the few rums carrying the AOC certification! A dry but very complex and well balanced rhum Agricole. The single column copper still in which it was made has given it a lot of flavours not available in normal stills A masterpiece of rum made from molasses showing that with love and care you can make a well aged Rhum Agricole from molasses."
Gran Reserva Diez Aged 10 Years

Top review from Vincent D:
"GoĂ»tĂ© aprĂšs un 4 ans et un 8 ans de la mĂȘme maison. Celui-ci est indiscutablement le meilleur et le seul Ă se rapprocher d'un rhum de dĂ©gustation. Le boisĂ© est prĂ©sent tout au long de la dĂ©gustation et amĂšne du corps Ă un rhum doux et sucrĂ©. Finale Ă©tonnement longue et plus sombre. Pas mal."
XO

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"As a summary I would say itâs an elegant and pleasant Agricole with a quite long finish that could compete with J.M XO to be a perfect introduction to the world of Agricole. The nose is fruity with aroma of vanilla. At the palate and during the rather long finish itâs elegant and pleasant with flavors of vanilla, fruits, spice and sugarcane."
Clairin Vieux Sajous - Second Release

Top review from Frank:
"VSGBNose: not a classic Clarin, the oloroso cask has mellowed it considerably. Fruity it is, apple and honeydew melon with a little vinegar. In addition something vegatibles, maybe artichoke, green with something, like chamomile. Palate: hui, seems very sweet, sherry sweet, so quite full-bodied. Cherry, plum and dried, sulfured apricot. On the palate, the sherry fizz - as so often, or almost always - clearly drowns out the actual rum. If you like that, it is quite tasty, but for me always too monotonous and interchangeable. So also here."
Blanc

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Bought this Rhum Neisson Blanc 55 some months ago on my way home from Spain. The distillery has been operational since 1931 and they produce their AOC rhums from sugar cane from their own fields. The harvest takes place between late February and June and itâs during this period the Blanc 55 is produced from 5 different sugar canes, which probably gives it some complexity. Before bottled it has rested in stainless steel vats for 6 months. Overall a great premium Agricole Blanc that works well neat as well in an Ti Punch."
Brut de Fût

Top review from cigares :
"A rum tasted at the WLP and in Cologne. A warm nose with walnuts, Cementit, old hemp rope and, above all, rapeseed flowers. A fairly lively attack on the palate, with leather, glue and wood, followed by fruit, yellow fruit and apple. A long, elegant finish. A fine rum, all elegance except on the attack."
Last Ward Barbados (Pure Single Rum)

Top review from DomM:
"Very nice on the nose. This feels very mature (in a positive way) with lots of wood, chocolate and hints of coconuts. Those notes are accompanied by lots of ripe and dried fruits and some herbs (a hint of menthol?). The fruit notes are rather intense making this the best MG nose I experienced so far. Lots of wood on the palate without being to dry or bitter. Dark choclate and some dried fruits show up to the party. Nice. This one needs quite some time to breath to fully open up but delivers a very nice MG expression."
Black Edition Alligator

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Bought this Rhum from Catawiki to a very good price together with some other bottles. Karukera is produced by the Esperance distillery in Guadeloupe that also produces Longuetau. Karukera is the name the indigenous people called their island which means 'The island of beautiful waters'. Itâs distilled in the distilleryâs column still, but the details how it has been aged differs, some says for seven years in French bourbon and cognac barrels others says five years in new charred barrels. Maybe there are two different ones. Overall a super smooth and round Rhum that probably is a very good introduction to Rhum from Guadeloupe."
15 Años

Top review from Timo Groeger:
"Ich muss ganz ehrlich sagen, ich finde nicht, dass dieser sich (deutlich) vom 8-jĂ€hrigen abhebt. Dieser hier ist auch relativ sĂŒss, man hat hier Kaffee, Vanille, (dunkle) Schokolade sowie Karamell in Nase sowie Gaumen. HĂ€tte besseres erwartet."
Stadeâs Rum JAWS Barbados

Top review from zabo:
"Edit: Tried it again in a freestyle tiki, it's definitely a lot better there, so it's been adjusted upwards a little. How should I start? Blindly, I wouldn't guess Barbados but Jamaica. Gives a nice ester taste. But what I personally find annoying is that I have such a sugar taste on my lips afterwards. Unfortunately, this makes it too sweet for me, more like a liqueur, spiced rum or definitely with dosage. Even though it's not supposed to have any dosage. Unfortunately, that breaks its neck, I probably had too high expectations."
CihuatĂĄn Sahumerio

Top review from crazyforgoodbooze:
"very fiery, spicy, sweet, exciting complex rum and a worthy successor to the previous limited editions of Cihuatan! in the finish it gets really fiery and wicked again... Unusual but delicious! Still not my favorite..."
Abuelo XV Oloroso

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Got a sample of this in my second batch from Rum Ratings Tasting Club and participated in the virtual tasting yesterday. The Abuelo XV Oloroso is 15 years old and is first matured in American oak casks to be finished in Oloroso Sherry casks. Overall itâs very sweet, natural or not, read somewhere that a hydrometer test gave 44 gpl. The finish is medium long. "
Doorlyâs 5 Years

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall an very OK everyday rum, especially when taking the price into account. The brand Doorlyâs was founded by Martin Doorly & Company, but is nowadays owned and produced by Foursquare and Mr. Richard Seale. The 5yo is a single blended rum, a combination of column and pot still, aged in former bourbon casks whereafter itâs bottled without any dosage or additives at 40%."
Chairmanâs Reserve Vintage

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall an powerful, complex, fruity, spicy and smoky rum. Bought two bottles of this rum from Svet NĂĄpojov in Slovakia. The brand Chairmanâs Reserve from Saint Lucia Distillers (SLD) saw the day of light in 1999 under supervision of Laurie Barnard, and is today their most appreciated rum if you ask me. SLD use molasses imported from the Dom. Rep. and some sugar cane juice from sugar cane grown in Saint Lucia. They use open tanks for fermentation and four different stills, one Coffey column and three different pot stills. All their rum is tropically aged on site mostly in ex-Bourbon casks, but sometimes also in Port casks. The 2009 is their second released vintage. Itâs entirely molasses based distilled in their Coffey Still and two of the pot stills (John Dore II & Vendome). Thereafter the different distillates was aged separately for 11 years in ex-Bourbon casks whereafter it was blended and married for some more weeks before bottled at ABV 46%."
Profil 107

Top review from Vincent D:
"Joli mix entre la canne encore trÚs présente et les notes boisées et épicées. Le nez et la bouche sont assez semblables, sur la canne, le bois, la vanille. Le piment est vif et piquant. Agréable dégustation. C'est vraiment sympathique et évolutif pour un ESB."
Great House (Distillery Edition 2024)

Top review from zabo:
"Freshly opened and tasted both neat and as a CubaLibre. Personally, I don't find it one hundred percent convincing neat, as it's a little too aggressive on the palate. Perhaps it should have breathed longer. But it delivers all the better in CubaLibre. I'll probably have to give it more time again."
J. Bally Art DĂ©co

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"Compared to the second release this one lack a bit. It is of course a younger model, but it can still keep up I think. Lightly woody with fruits from nose to finish. Lovely spices appear on the palate and finish nicely balanced with chocolate and caramel/toffee. There is a flowery hint i there and a medicinal hint i can't put my finger on. Price to quality is very good."

Time will give this rum a lot đ i donât recommend it for cuba libre Nose: Solvents đ€Ș, fruity esters, funky, fresh, sugarcane, overripe fruits like banana, pineapple Mouth: Spicy, Solvents, astrigend, bitter, strong, funky, vegetal, olive, fruity Finish: short to medium long, dry astringend, bitter, caramel, vanilla, fresh, grass, herbal, young wood Update: I have this bottle now open for some months and itâs getting better and better drinkable/accessible."

Angostura 1787

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"Retasting and it did lose some points đ ------- This one concludes this week's tastings. Angostura has done it again. Another great rum and this one is a tad better than their 12 year old. This one was blended by John George's and he did a really good job. After blending it matured for 15 years in oak and you can taste that oak. A fruity well balanced rum with a long and full bodied finish."
Blanc

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"In nose itâs fruity, grassy and spicy. On the palate itâs the same and I can recognize banana, citrus, ginger, nutmeg and sugar cane flavors The rather long finish goes in the same direction. Overall a very smooth Agricole Blanc, not very demanding. Maybe a good entry to the world of Agricole Blanc."
Elliott Erwitt HLCF

Top review from HenryL:
"Very tasty! Great nose, in the first moment when you take a sip it has briefly a somehow unpleasant mouthfeel. However, this fades very quickly, then spreads a great flavor palette in the mouth! The rum develops from rather acidic ester notes to a sweetish pear with a slight eucalyptus note."
Black Tot Rum Master Blenderâs Reserve 2024

Grande RĂ©serve

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Bought three different RiviĂšre du Mat, produced in Reunion, during my drive down to Spain. This is the third and last I open, a traditionnel Rhum Vieux. Havenât found out the aging, but I estimate it to around 4 years. Overall a quite good rum thatâs definitely better than the Ambre and the Royal Reserve because of its deeper character and longer finish."
Lontan 57.5 Grand ArĂŽme

"#4563 19.01.2024 Got a set of samples from a former colleague in Sweden and today I'll give them a go. My tastebuds are still hyper sensitive, which can be both good and bad. This one was a huge surprise. I have travelled in these areas and the quality of their alcohol has gone op significantly over the years. Fruity and floral on the nose with a touch of sake which surprised me a bit as I like sake. The palate is fresh and has some anise to it. The finish is medium long and equally fresh with a light medicinal note. The empty glass has some chocolate and faint tea notes."

"#4885 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Round, vegetal, light floral, citrus, sugarcane, spice, faint smoke, faint anise. Palate Medium oily, fresh, balanced, vegetal, light herbal, citrus, light anise, light metallic, faint rubber, faint apple, medium spicy, faint smoke. Finish Medium long, fresh, balanced, fruits, light pineapple, citrus, faint smoke, medium oily, medium spicy. Considering the price for this bottle you get a lot for your money."

"A rum between Spanish, French and English thanks to a hybrid distillation. Well balanced and not too intense with a pleasant caramel and never cloying thanks also to the barrel/oak aroma with a coffee, chocolate and lychee/mango finish giving it depth. Medium-long finish."

"A rum tasted at Whisky Live in Paris in 2024 and Savanna high ester tasting. Overripe fruit on the nose, red fruit with banana, vegetal and light oak. The palate is lively and complex, with the same aromas as on the nose, plus a sort of bitter herb candy (Ricola) and dried herbs. Burnt caramel and pastries on the finish brighten up the dry herbs and vegetal. I find it much better than the Unshared Cask for France 2024."

"A pleasant discovery. A pastry profile that makes it easy to drink. Not insanely complex, but pleasant. Edit: tested a second time and I can confirm that for 49âŹ, it's great value for money. Very pleasant. It also appealed to the uninitiated. Edit: I'm raising my rating because the value for money is still very good. The bourbon brings a nice sweetness. It's easy enough to drink without being devoid of interest."

"It has clear similarities with the âCuvĂ©e Prestigeâ, but a little less intense. The nose is fruity and spicy with aromas of vanilla. At the palate itâs fruity, spicy, sweet and complex with flavors of licorice and vanilla. The finish is long and complex."

"17.11.2023 Another retasting and I still think that price to quality is pretty good. ---------- #4116 First off, the price to quality is very good in my mind. A fruity rum with nice balance in wood and spices. The palate is warm, sweet and oily. There is a nice floral touch to the profile. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass is nice with some smoke and coconut."

"Savanna Masterclass pour RumX 2024. Un nez dominé par la banane avec de la vanille. Un petit cÎté végétal (menthe?), et doucereux. La premiÚre bouche est acqueuse, la dilution se fait sentir. La banane est trÚs présente. La finale est courte avec de la fraßcheur, un léger menthol et un léger boisé peu perceptible avant. Un rhum sans prétention mais agréable à boire."

Cuvée des Alizés

Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"A very smooth white agricultural rum. A lovely agricultural freshness perfumes the nostrils, with earthy, herbaceous and vegetal notes, accompanied by citrus fruits (lemon) that round out the angles. A hint of salt underscores the subtlety of the nose. The attack on the palate is ample, supple and pleasant. Citrus and dried fruit dominate the palate, leaving sugarcane and its vegetal notes more in the background. Round, fresh and very well structured. The finish, of decent length, is surprisingly warm, dry and slightly spicy. Vegetal and earthy flavors come back to the fore, in the face of citrus. A very fine cuvée that will delight all Ti Punch lovers."

"Shortly after opening and pouring, the whole room smells of glue! This rum cannot be mistaken for Hampden! It is not easy to "smell past" the esters. Ripe pineapple and marzipan are definitely behind it. Slightly weaker vanilla, pastry and yoghurt also yellow fruits. On the palate, I find the rum much more balanced! The barrel and roasted aromas are added here, as well as a salty note and olives, which form a nice interplay with the fruity sweetness. I also really like the seamless transition to the almost endless finish. The salty note picks up speed here. An excellent, intense, "thoroughbred" Hampden. According to the BAT blog, Hampden produced the Mark OWH in 2013. However, this rum is definitely one of the <>H"

The empty glass has light earthy and floral notes."

Top review from Jakob:
"It has all the characteristics of the extremely intense 2001 vintage, but thanks to the comparatively low strength, the rum is not overpowering, but rather invites you to discover the aromas. Due to the significantly lower strength, there is of course a lack of intensity here and there, but the rum does not appear really thin. Not enough for the absolute top class from 2001, but in my eyes the rum is nowhere near as clearly inferior as the current overall rating suggests - but of course the same applies here: De gustibus non est disputandum."

Opthimus 25 Años Malt Whisky Finish (TOMATIN)

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"This is a retasting and I'll leave the old comment and change the points đ This is a malt finish og their normal 25 and you definitely get the barrel finish. The nose is sharp in the beginning so leave if for 15 minutes ad you get rewarded with fruits, vanilla and caramel. There is a bit of earthiness about it. The palate is mild and well rounded with a lot of tropical fruits, berries and grapes topped with vanilla and oak. The finish is medium to long with a sweet stickiness followed by fruit, cocoa and caramel."

"Pretty good rum from Bally and you get what you pay for. The Agricole notes are there just in a light version. The nose is warm, fruity and woody with nutmeg, tobacco, leather and a hint of varnish. The palate is also fruity and woody with sugarcane, leather, tobacco and a hint of iodine and flowers. The finish is medium long with wood, spices and dried fruits."
Sherry Cask Finish

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Got this 5cl sample from the RR Tasting Club. The Emperor Sherry finished Rum is a a blend of aged rum made from fresh sugar cane juice (40%) and molasses (60%). This amber colored rum is aged in American and French oak barrels for 5-12 years whereafter itâs given a 6-month finish in sherry casks before bottled. Overall itâs quite alike the Heritage version, but with Sherry hints of course. For me itâs too sweet and I characterize it as a rum mostly belonging to the Spanish style."
XO Quintessence

Top review from TheRhumhoe:

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"Retasting and leaving the original note đ This is a really good rum and also one for beginners because the proof is lower than normal. Easy to drink and enjoy with friends that may not like the more biting rums. The nose is sweet with the barrel to it and then some caramel. The palate is heavily influenced by the molasses and it almost ruins the taste for me. Fruity and the barrel is clearly there. The finish is sweet and medium long with a touch of fruits and oak."
Hearts Collection - 1998

Top review from Joachim Guger:
"Beautiful, red-golden color. Glue, licorice, tropical fruits, ginger, spices. Chocolate and oranges. Powerful, well balanced. Mouth-filling, tropical fruits, spicy, gingerbread, dark malt. Warm, long finish. An outstanding rum. Clearly in line with the series and one of the better ones. Its profile lies between 2003 (fruity) and 1999 (liquorice). Long tropical ageing without any lignification testifies to high craftsmanship. The music: the soundtrack by Dr.No."

"01.09.2024 Relaxing at the German Rum Fest 2024. ---------------- 16.05.2023 Normally I don't do tastings during the week because I have to go to work pretty early the next day. This blind tasting just stating "Colours of Rum" just tickled my brain to say "book and participate" and I didn't regret it. It wasn't only a great experience, but we had a blast of an evening with many new faces around the table. Not a bad rum though I think the price tag is slightly higher than I'd expect for the quality. A very fruity and fresh profile with light ester and roasted wood. The palate is intense and dry but still fruity with some ester. The finish is long and dry with a warm touch to it."
Angostura Tribute Distillerâs Cut

Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" đ€:
"Very pleasantly surprised! I've actually never had an Angostura in a glass before, so it was the best idea to taste this rum blind first. When I smelled it, my first association was that it must be a kind of TiPunch, with a very present, inviting citrus note. On the palate, it was a pleasantly spicy rum, not necessarily fruity. It wasn't until I could taste a lot of mint towards the end that I was relatively certain that it must be a TDL, one of the later ones (2008-2010). All right, very close - or maybe not. đ But that doesn't detract from my assessment at all: what a great rum with only 44.7%! đ"

"Overall an interesting rum that could be a first start to experience rum from Guadeloupe because of its roundness which makes it very easy drinked. This is an Agricole from the house of ReimonenQ in Guadeloupe named after one of the founders, Joseph Reimonenq. Itâs a rum distilled in their column still in 2012, aged for four years in former bourbon casks and thereafter bottled at ABV 40%."

Cuvée Victor

Top review from TheRhumhoe:

970 Reserva

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Tasted this rum with a good friend that bought it during a trip to Madeira which has a long tradition of making sugar and rum. The first Engenho (sugar mill) in Madeira is from 1452 and they produced sugar from sugar cane on the island until 1986. Rum from molasses has been distilled since the early 16th century and the first agricultural rum was produced in the mid 17th century. Nowadays thereâs four distilleries on the island. The biggest one is Engenhos Do Norte. Established in 1927, and produces this brand among others. Itâs distilled in Barbet copper columns whereafter itâs placed in French oak barrels for at least 6 years before blended, reduced and bottled. After what Iâve heard is it a very typical traditional Madeira rum."
Saint Benevolence Clairin

Top review from Zucker und Zeste:
"A crystal-clear liquid appears in the glass, which leaves fat streaks on the glass wall when swirled, which only flow down again slowly. This already suggests a lot of aroma. The nose offers lots of herbal, grassy sugar cane notes and a fermented, sweet and sour note that almost tends a little towards vinegar. On the fruity side, I am reminded of limes and green fruit. There are also a few olives and something meaty. I can also detect slightly salty and medicinal aromas. The alcohol is initially quite intense and the aromas quickly spread throughout the room. On the palate, I am initially quite surprised. In addition to the grassy, floral aromas, I find smoke and a certain minerality. This brings back brief memories of a very delicate mezcal with a lovely sweetness. I can also detect the fermented vinegar note, the olive and the bacon. The finish remains the same, with an increasing spiciness and a subtle sharpness that I can't really place. It's definitely not pepper. Neither is ginger. It doesn't really matter, the main thing is that it tastes good. And it does! Saint Benevolence works just as well in a drink, even if you have to adjust the drinks a little. We tried it in a daiquiri, but also in a caipirinha, and the result convinced us. In the end, the grassy-floral aroma remained in the drink."

Plantation Jamaica (LMDW) ITP

Top review from Rodolphe:
"After the discovery of the live whisky, which had thrilled me, I took the time to taste it again this evening. I'm still very impressed. A great ITP, especially on the nose. I really love this nose. Superb balance between fruit, wood and a gourmand side. On the palate, the woodiness tends to be a little too present, through a little bitterness that quickly blurs the fruitier aromas of the beginning. Too bad, but it's still a great rum. Another very fine plantation release in the top-range Jamaican range, at a price that's not at all unreasonable today for 20 years of age."
