Show all Martinique rumsMartinique is a sunny 436 square-mile Caribbean island in the Lesser Antilles of the West Indies; the French claimed it in 1635, and it is still part of the European country’s territory. The high-quality French standards have helped the Martinique rum industry position itself as the source of the finest sugar cane spirits. This is the only rum style protected by international law with its own appellation of origin or AOP. The island’s exciting spirit is called Rhum Agricole. Unlike most other Caribbean rums, this one must be made with the purest sugar cane juice and not with the lesser molasses, a by-product of sugar production. The French-style spirit is distilled to 70% alcohol in column stills with copper condensers (much lower than most other rums) and rectified to a final 40–55% before bottling. The process makes it one of the most flavourful rums in the world. Of course, using the finest French oak barrels is not unheard of on the island, which gives Rhum Agricole an elegant old-world feel. There are fourteen distilleries in Martinique, and they produce rum from sugar cane juice in several styles. Perhaps the most coveted is the Rhum Vieux or old rum, which ages for at least three years in oak. Spirits labelled as Dark Rum or Rhum Ambré age for 18 months, and a vibrant and uncomplicated White Rum is not aged at all. The latter is best suited for craft cocktails. For French-style rum, Rhum Agricole from Martinique has no equal.

HSE Château Marquis de Terme Cask Finish

Top review from Vincent D:
"Goûté au RhumFest 2024 : Au nez le boisé habituel sur ces cuvées, de la vanille et le raisin apporté par le fût. Sensations comparables en bouche. C'est doux et sauve. Un boisé élégant. Pas vraiment de surprise ici mais ça reste très bon."

"Had a nice HSE tasting this Friday and we had a lot of fun at the same time preparing a top shelf tasting later in the year. This is a lovely rum and a pleasant surprise. Fruity from nose to finish with roasted wood and vanilla. "
La Flibuste

Top review from cigares :
"Criticized by some for its "additions", La Flibuste remains an exceptional rum on the nose and palate. Don't deny yourself the pleasure. Complexity, harmony and depth. This is the rum that introduced me to the world of great molasses rums. It's like a bridge between these two worlds. I dream of tasting "La Flibuste" brut de fût, although this is not on the distillery's agenda."

Clément Cuvée Spéciale XO

Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"This rum will explode with flavours in your mouth. A heavy taste that will slowly fade into a heavenly feeling of bliss. This rum is blended from the bast casks of 1952, 1970 and 1976 and this may be the best rum in the world. Well worth the price tag it comes with. "
Rare Cask Collection 10th Anniversary of Romhatten.dk

Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰:
"I got a sample of this rum from a friend and I wasn't disappointed. It belongs up with the best of the Clements I have sampled so far. The nose starts off very intense, so it needs to rest after which it's still intense, but the ABV burn in the nose dissipates. The Agricole flavours are there with grass and nice oak. Fruity with vanilla and a hint of leather The palate is also intense and dry, but in a very nice way. Oak and spices mix very well with fruit and nuts. The finish is long and dry with oak, spices and fruit."
